Come outside your own tiny worldview for just a moment and appreciate that a gadget like this exists for people who suffer from arthritis or other hand problems that make removing corks difficult.

I've had this for about 3 years, holds a charge well and works great! Of course I drink the under $40 bottles of wine, but haven't had any issues yet.

Edit: wasn't a fan of the stopper, but the item itself and foil opener are great.

Like others i've seen on the market. The gears on this are plastic. That may work fine for those cheap corks in the $2 chuck. For my synthetic corks or higher grade full cork it will break the opener after a few bottles as per reviews.

It's a great idea, but a manual opener is going to last a lot longer from my experience.

Classy well made bottle openers are what we don't want. The cheap with plastic along with a few melting plastic pieces gives a conversation when uncorking a bottle of wine. Maybe the wine has a screw top and no cork.

There's no base to this for charging. You have to unplug/plug the adapter in the back every time you use it.

And reviews on Amazon seem to say that it is not very durable due to its flimsy plastic parts.

Just checked my Amazon order history and I got this for $7.95 on December 2016. It's STILL working like a champ. We go up and down in drinking through the years, but use it often enough to be surprised that it lasted this long. Need to remember to charge it once in awhile and have a backup manual opener. The plus of not having a base is that you don't need a space for it in the kitchen. Mine lives in a kitchen drawer.

Same here. It works and does a good job. Idk what people are talking about but it has opened every bottle I used it on. For $10, it's a no brainer. It's wayyyy better than the one i have that goes on a charger.
