Greenworks 80v Lawnmower $391.79 at Amazon

I have been using a 36v Black and Decker I got at a gas mower exchange probably 10 years ago. I had been dipping my toe in the water on a new mower and noticed I missed some good deals recently but this one seemed pretty decent. I have the Greenworks 80v string trimmer and 40v blower and hedge trimmer which have served me well for at least 3 years, good products. I ordered the "used- very good" version for $360 and it was brand new, minus the box was a little beat up.

I can't even begin to described how much of an improvement this is! The old mower was horrible at self bagging as I probably ended up with 6x-8x more clippings in the can (not exaggerating). It seems to have a power sensor to ramp up the juice in heavy grass. I could not believe how much better the lawn looked after I was done (everything was cut evenly I think?)...in about 1/2 the time as well. The crazy thing about that is that I had the 2.0ah battery from the sting trimmer to use while I was charging the 4.0ah and I then didn't even need it!! My lawn is probably about 1600 square feet...

I have a relatively flat lawn so self propelled wasn't all that much of a feature to me but I will tell you this mower rocks!

The warranty is 4 yrs for both battery and tool. You should claim warranty replacement if it happens before 4 yrs
I'm currently fighting with them with my battery warranty after only 1 year.

That is concerning...are they non responsive or are they declining to honor warranty without any reason?

I've already had Greenworks 80V stuff for a few years. I would recommend the 80V but only the self-propelled. Though it doesn't have a big smelly loud Gas motor, it has a big electric motor, and is well-built. And it does weigh quite a bit. I think the self-propelled is an important feature unless you have a super-lightweight 16" cut.

However, this one is not a slick deal since it's not self-propelled. So I bought the self-propelled version of this for $295 Tool-Only a few months ago. So that's good only if you have batteries (1 or more) already and a charger. I actually wanted to pay up to I think about $400+ for this with the same battery combo, but it was OOS at Amazon and I didn't want to wait because my neighbors were yelling at me about my unmowed lawn. I'd pay $300 again for this is I had batteries and $400+ if it had the 4AH, but only the self-propelled version.

BTW the batteries can be repaired or you can send them to places. I did have my first one (at least 4 years old) die on me, but it was I'm pretty sure because I left it out in the rain. For like a year. When I took it apart it was clearly damaged and corroded. So yeah, don't leave electric mowers and batteries out in the rain. Unlike the gas ones that tend to tolerate it, at least for a while, until they crap-out on you due to poor maintenance and care.

Bought the 60v 2 battery version and was so Impressed I bought the trimmer as well. Figured a gas mower math was:

4 year use Gas Mower
$300 mower
$480 = $3 gallon of gas x 40 mows per year
$24 = oil/filter annually
$804 Total
+$144 for yr 5 = $948

4 year use Electric Mower
$383 mower
$40 = $.25 electric x 40 mows per year
$423 Total
+$278 two new batteries + power = $701

This is what I keep seeing from people who have actually tried to get their warranty honored. They make it impossible.

Lol ok. But do you even have a lawn to mow?
Uhh, yeah. 80volt is much stronger than the 60v. Why even bother with the weaker system? My comment is not about battery quality or how many minutes it will last or charge time, but more about the strength of the mower. It doesn't matter how many batteries are included or if it's self-propelled, you're comparing an F-350 to an F-150 with a larger tank of gas. And if you have the 60v and it works for you, that's great, but I don't see why you wouldn't want to go with the strongest system available. I have the 80v. My lawn is very thick and if I let it get long, even it will start to bog down. I would not waste my time with less than 80v. You asked, you got a short answer, here's a longer one. Go ahead and get the weaker mower.

These Greenworks 80v batteries will not last 3 or 4 years so consider that and considered yourself lucky for using the 36v BD for 10 years. I have used the Greenworks 40v and 80v and they mostly crapped out after 3 years.
I had the 60 volt self propelled and it died in 2.5 years make sure you buy the extended warranty.

They want me to cut the grass and record it on with a timer without using self propel. I'm getting about 40% of my battery life but my word on that isn't good enough.

Getting the go pro ready to take a video of me cutting the grass.

For anyone that is interested, the self propelled w/4ah goes on sale fairly often for $470 after tax.

The reason i went electric is vibration wrecks my arthritic hand and due to my medication for said arthritis i get headaches easily.

The combination of very low vibrations and noise levels lower than my vaccum have been awesome.

Here is to hoping the battery lasts. Ive had the 80v leaf blower for 5 yrs and the battery is still fine as is my other 3 yr old 80v from snow blower.

I know it's 60v vs 80v of the OP, but it has 1 extra battery and also self propelled for $90 more.

From what I have seen the Self - propelled is very fast and a great benefit.
