I paid $29 for this phone and it was worth it for me personally. I barely ever use the phone and just use Google Voice to text people while at home on my own wifi for free. I just needed a cheap phone for SMS verification and to use as an authenticator for Steam etc and it works great.

The last phone i owned was GS3 and it was a really nice upgrade to that.

If you do pick up this phone up, don't forget to sign up for a Tracfone rewards account and then go on Reddit etc to get another users referral code for $80 worth of free credit on your account.
Regular price could be $30, sometimes go on sale for $24 such as this:
Tracfone 1-Year Prepaid Smartphone Plan w/ 1200 Min, 1200 Texts & 3GB Data $24

https://slickdeals.net/f/15197587-tracfone-1-year-prepaid-smartphone-plan-w-1200-min-1200-texts-3gb-data-24-free-shipping?
i did something similar for my parents who still have an old school landline. this way when that goes down, which it did recently for 3 weeks (YES! THREE WEEKS!!!) and when they are out and about they have a phone to use if needed.

just remember that it has to be used every couple of months per the TOS.

I'm NOT affiliated with Supershieldz but I've been buying their screen protectors forever. This one https://smile.amazon.com/gp/produ...UTF8&psc=1 is a perfect fit for the Motorola E (2020) in this deal.

I already have a Moto E but couldn't resist buying another with this deal. It's not a flagship phone but you're getting your money's worth for sure.

On Target's website, has the Tracfone 1GB add-on data card for $10 disappeared?
I can't find it there or in their app. Just now. Swear I've got it there before. No tax.
why not just go to tracfone account and load directly on phone for same price?

Can this stand alone as purchased as a functional home emergency phone for a year? The thread has so much strategy talk that I don't follow. Kids about to start staying home alone and we don't have a landline. Thanks.

I thought they charged tax but they don't which is good to know. The $5 text add-on adds tax and fees and would cost me $6.60 so it's better to buy that card elsewhere.

Target red card gives 5% off and there are often promotions.

Thanks OP. This deal seems to be a recurring one... I picked it up for $30 a few months ago with the same new HSN customer discount to have a backup data-only Verizon hotspot in the car when driving in rural Indiana outside of TMobile's coverage. Havent activated it yet, waiting for Black Friday when my primary 12 month prepaid service renews. I want both to cover the same time frame. Smilie

But its really good to know that if I cant activate the original phone because the activation info somehow expired that I'll still be able to get in on this deal again later.

+1 for that, and repped. Smilie

Yes, just buy and activate and you're good for a year. Do sign up for the Rewards, you'll want it later.

Yes, just remember to make a call/text _at least every 6 months_ to keep it active. Read the terms and conditions and unlock policy. But, yes.

Great info to know, thank you! When you say " has to be used every couple of months" does that mean actually making or getting voice calls or just getting texts? I'm only getting this phone so i can use it for 2FA text verification for apps, I have no intention of doing any calling with it.

Edit: Nevermind question answered in the post above hug

That is what I did for one of my senior relatives. She used to have a flip phone as emergency phone (she has a landline) but she complained about texting (everyone knows how difficult it is to text on a keypad) so I got a deal similar to this a year ago for her. She went through the learning curve on using the smartphone and now she is happy camper.

The referral credits plus all the free reward points from TF website is now enough for her to get another year worth of data/mins. $35 for two years of phone + plan on Verizon network is a good value for low usage user (and especially when she doesn't get out much these days). The only ongoing difficulty is that the phone in standby mode lasts for 3 days+ so she sometimes found herself with a dead phone because she forgot to charge it.

You may want to look at an affordable cordless phone set with Bluetooth. That way you can have a couple phones around the house, kind of like an old school landline but new school since it'd go thru a cell phone. But yes, this would be perfect. Make sure Verizon is good in your area, that's the underlying carrier for this phone.
