I paid $29 for this phone and it was worth it for me personally. I barely ever use the phone and just use Google Voice to text people while at home on my own wifi for free. I just needed a cheap phone for SMS verification and to use as an authenticator for Steam etc and it works great.

The last phone i owned was GS3 and it was a really nice upgrade to that.

If you do pick up this phone up, don't forget to sign up for a Tracfone rewards account and then go on Reddit etc to get another users referral code for $80 worth of free credit on your account.
Regular price could be $30, sometimes go on sale for $24 such as this:
Tracfone 1-Year Prepaid Smartphone Plan w/ 1200 Min, 1200 Texts & 3GB Data $24

https://slickdeals.net/f/15197587-tracfone-1-year-prepaid-smartphone-plan-w-1200-min-1200-texts-3gb-data-24-free-shipping?
i did something similar for my parents who still have an old school landline. this way when that goes down, which it did recently for 3 weeks (YES! THREE WEEKS!!!) and when they are out and about they have a phone to use if needed.

just remember that it has to be used every couple of months per the TOS.

Question... Is there any deadline after purchase to activate and start the 365 day clock? I was wondering if these are at all a good 'backup' sitting in box for emergencies in the event a primary cell breaks/stolen/network down/etc. Does anyone use these as such an insurance plan?

IF you pay the regular Tracfone price for 1 year service, etc, that's around $125 all by itself.
Don't do that. You never have to pay retail. Make your comparison against deals like HSN or QVC, or TracFone on Ebay.

I got this from Ebay a couple months ago.
I like the phone alright, but wish I could get more data.
You can buy some. Check tracfonereviewer at blogspot for lastest deals.

Nobody in the right mind would pay $125 for a total of 1500 Minutes Talk & 1500 MB data.

I recently bought a Moto E. For a budget phone, it feels nice and works well. Much better than other phones in the same price range and feels more premium than it costs - especially compared to its predecessor, the E6.

Stacked with a referral you'd have service for up to two years. TracFone will unlock after 12 months of service too.

Can you explain the referral process?

You get a referral code from the internet and input when you register your account. Get $80 worth of reward points.

You can't post referral codes on slick deals, but I have messaged people when I got mine for codes.

If you pay Target $10 (no tax) for 1 gig of data, you can use a promo code for 500mb free. Per tracfonereviwer:
78439 - 500 bonus Data - 1 GB Data Card - working August 2021
Thanks!
On Target's website, has the Tracfone 1GB add-on data card for $10 disappeared?
I can't find it there or in their app. Just now. Swear I've got it there before. No tax.

It's pretty easy. You get a code from a current TracFone customer. Ideally one with more referrals under their belt to maximize your points. You activate, join the rewards program and enter the referral code. Points "vest" in 60 days, which you can then spend on airtime. For low use, four $20 (2000 points each) airtime cards gets you another year.

The TOS for TracFone says there must be talk or text every six months -- so for those buying this as a glovebox/backup phone just make a couple of reminders for the year of service you get included with the phone.

If signing up with a TracFone rewards account you will earn up to 8k points, which can be redeemed for 8 gigs more data or several more months of talk/text/data plans. Also, the phone is eligible to be unlocked in 360 days -- so if you set another calendar reminder 360 days from when you activate, you can unlock it with no additional purchases.

My Chase card also had 15% back at HSN, so if you have a Chase card check it out too.

I have 2 from a couple of months ago, and the bootloaders can't be unlocked (according to Motorola's website).

It did disappear. Walmart has it. [walmart.com] I would get the code emailed just to make sure I could add the promo code.
