Love my AfterShokz. I have the OpenMove which are great, but of course I prefer the Aeropex as I have a massive noggin. For those with average or below average sized heads, either would be fine, and they're even available in a Mini size, with a shorter band.

The audio quality is not HIFI, which couldn't be expected from something that has to go through your skin and bones to get to your eardrum, but if you get a comfortable pair, you can wear them all day for occasional music, calls, or audiobooks and forget you're even wearing them. Unless you have very short hair, or colorful AfterShokz, most people likely won't even notice you're wearing them. I even wear them with glasses (closest to my skull) and a mask (closest to my ear) and rarely have any discomfort after getting used to them.

My favorite thing about these, other than the fact that I can hear what's going on around me even while I'm listening to music, is the fact that the inside of my ears don't get that sweaty waxy feeling that comes from wearing earbuds all the time.

My only complaint is that they aren't comfortable to wear lying down, as the band around the back is stiff and pushes the transducers (essentially the speaker part) forward away from your ears when lying on your back and the transducers themselves press into your head/ear if you lie on your side.

Bottom Line: If you haven't tried bone conduction headphones, and you're interested in any one of the benefits, you owe it to yourself to give them a shot.
Not comfortable... prefer AfterShokz Aeropex Currently on sale for $129 ($30 off) on Amazon https://amzn.to/2WLPSlq
The sound from these are merely 'ok'. If you are someone who needs to keep their ears open for surrounding sounds, these are the way to go from a safety standpoint (joggers, bicyclists, etc). However, if you have a large head, these probably won't fit correctly or be comfortable as there is no size adjustment.

Bone conduction headphones are great. They're even more wearable than Airpods and the batteries last longer. They don't fall out like Airpods so you can exercise with them. You get used to them squeezing your head but they do get tiresome (that's the only drawback).

I got a pair on the last Amazon deal. I have been using them on the construction site. They aren't insane audio quality but they are good. Can wear them comfortably with a hard hat and glasses on. To be able to hear music without earplugs you really can't hear people talking to you, so constantly adjusting volume. No one has questioned what is on my head, they sometimes look at me funny but I assume are nervous I have a medical condition they don't want to ask about. Battery life has been phenomenal though, I've been getting 10-12 hours easily with my set. I really would recommend them for anyone who needs to be able to hear their surroundings even at full price

I can't wear these for longer than a few hours at a time. They just hurt my ears.

I have a pretty large head. No issues at all here, and I don't think there would be one with an even more massive noggin. In fact, they make a small model specifically for people with smaller heads.

I'm not sure I understand. I know we're all different, but they barely touch my ears. I forget I have mine on and have to touch my head sometimes to see.

A few hours? Well that's pretty good to me! I can't wear earbuds for more than 10 mins…

It can be an issue leaning back against a chair with a headrest as well. For what it's worth, while it might look kind of silly, you can get around this issue by wearing them with the band over the top of your head, like old school headphones. Not perfect, but it works.
