I bought the 77" GX (used) a month or so ago and then just got the 77" CX (used) two days ago. Not sure if the same holds true from 2020 to 2021, but the GX felt heavier than the CX (just checked -- it's about 30 pounds heavier). That blew my mind because the GX doesn't have a "butt" on it, whereas the CX has a small one.

Also, the GX is a pain in the ass to mount -- as much due to lack of visibility and a small target to hit in the proprietary mount. When I mounted my CX using my own wall mount, it was a breeze.

In a nutshell, if you plan on using a stand, get the CX (no sense in paying a premium and then have to buy a stand / legs). And if you're wall mounting, unless you must have little to no wall gap, the CX is probably preferred as well (lighter, easier to mount, cheaper).
He posted a thread on a YMMV deal at Sam's Club, and still has not shared what model LG OLED he picked up. Based on what members can figure out, it's most likely a 65" BX model.

Uh... what? It's heavier because the GX back panel is essentially all metal and uniformly thick vs the CX's thick center square and mostly plastic build.

GX/G1 have regular VESA holes as well. I have the 77" and elected to use my full motion mount instead of the included proprietary flush mount bracket and it's works just fine. IMO it's better that the mounting position is centered whereas the CX and most other OLED TVs have VESA holes offset towards the bottom, which may necessitate repositioning an existing wall mount.

In a nutshell, the GX/G1 is marginally better than the CX/C1. If price is the same, go for the GX/G1. Factoring in price, pick the one that better fits your use case.
You okay? My whole point was that I was shocked that a "gallery style" TV where the main selling point is how thin it is and how close to the wall it mounts would weigh 60% more than its same-sized counterpart, especially when one had a "butt" and one didn't. But congrats, you nailed it. The additional weight was a result of production material and the GX being thicker in the normal "bezel" area. Which common sense would almost have to suggest it would have to be one or both since they are literally the same screen size, so it had to come from somewhere.

And if you're suggesting that I didn't say you could VESA mount the GX/G1, you're mistaken. In fact, I even went as far as to say I could have done exactly that with my GX, but it would have ruined the selling point of the TV.

To be fair, these are your words:
"Also, the GX is a pain in the ass to mount -- as much due to lack of visibility and a small target to hit in the proprietary mount. When I mounted my CX using my own wall mount, it was a breeze."

To someone who didn't know any better, you made it sound like it using the proprietary mount was the only option for the GX. All I'm doing is providing additional clarification. 🤷

GX looks awesome mounted to the wall. Watch a youtube video on wall mounting the tv and you'll see what dude means about being a pain. you need two people, but three is better. third guy stands on a chair and guides the tv to the mount.

Yep exactly ideally you want 3 people for the exact reasons you stated I just mounted a 65" GX a couple months ago and had a third person on a small step ladder looking over the top and slowly waving us from left to right until we were lined up just right was actually pretty easy that way albeit not as easy as mounting a C series with a generic wall mount but still not bad.

It specifically covers burn-in. For the first year, everything on the TV is covered, parts and labor included. The second through fifth years, only the panel is covered. LG pays for the parts, you pay for the labor
I think you're right, I must have been thinking of a different model or different warranty. My bad Peace

Hard to say if it's worth $1000 more than the CX65, that's a big jump. The warranty makes it tempting, though.

Sam's has some 65" LG OLED on clearance for $809.

So they never had any on clearance and you got lucky on a price match on a mislabeled item? Never post again.

I am starting to question the price match part as i have yet to see a receipt. I asked the poster twice to post it on imgur & share link but always deflects the question.

They had some other model 65OLED on clearance. Below the price tag where they hold the TV's they had A1s. So I was price matched-

He's now posted twice the he got the A1 (2021 entry-level OLED model) for $809, through a bit of luck that would be dang near impossible to replicate. It's a nice story for him but useless to the rest of us.

Yep. My intention was to let people know that Sams had some older model 65OLED on clearance for 809, if they can hunt it down since I couldn't get the picture of the clearance tag. If someone is really serious to buy one at that price, they wouldn't question here but drive down to see if a store near them has one on clearance.

I believe the GX has a glass screen whereas the CX is a type of plastic which would account for the increased weight. GX is supposed to also have the "Gallery" mode for art and pictures similar to the Samsung "The Frame". Please correct anyone here if im wrong

Run a video like this on your screen and look for anything that jumps out at you. Everything should be a uniform color.

If you see numbers, logos, shapes, etc., that means you've got some serious image retention or burn-in.

Yep. The GX has a fraction of an inch between the back of the TV and the wall. The G1 (I assume) is the same thing since it's just a 2021 vs. 2020 thing.

(If you didn't know, the G indicates the series, the X represents "10" -- as in 2020 -- whereas the "1" represents 2021).

The CX -- and along those lines the C1 -- has the same processor, etc. as their G series counterparts from everything I've heard.

EDIT: the reason the G series was so hard to mount is because they include a proprietary mount that you have to attach to the wall FIRST and then (somewhat blindly) try to drop the TV's "bolts" on the back into two narrow slots in said wall mount. Since you can't see what you're doing from the front (TV is in the way) and can't see what you're doing from the sides (since the gap is relatively small -- even before you collapse the wall mount), it's hard to see if you're "over the target" or not.

With the C series, I used a wall mount that I've had for years. The mount itself is permanently affixed to the wall studs and it has a notch in which a bar rests. The bar is connected to two vertical brackets that you bolt to the back of the TV. Then you pick the TV up and just drop the bar into the notches. YMMV based on the wall mount you use, but we mounted the CX in like five seconds / first pass versus the GX took multiple attempts / got nervous we'd drop it. It's much heavier and harder to hit the target that you can't see. Now, I could have purchased a third party wall mount for the GX as well, but then I paid a premium for the "gapless" look and didn't even take advantage of it.
Thanks for feedback, what mount did you use for the CX? Thanks

It's one that I've had for probably 13 years and had used with previous TVs. I bought it from the guy that mounted the first TV that we placed above the mantle in our (then) new home. It's a silver metal with essentially a "trough" formed by two half-circle hooks (open at the top) coming away from the wall at both ends. It also included two vertical brackets with bolt holes. The vertical brackets have a long metal bar running horizontally through them. Once you affix the brackets to the back of the TV, you pick the TV up and position it so the metal bar rests in the trough formed by the two "hooks". Once in place, you just close a little "security bar" and then latch the bracket shut with a little "key" to ensure the bar won't pop out.
