Damn, there are a few "Fair" conditions somewhat near me (RDU area) for $378 but far enough I'm not willing to cross the entire metro area during a weekday.
Any idea how long BB with hold an instore pickup for a open box item?

Man thats a great price, and I would bite on a good, but with how bad the reputation for Asus has got on these handhelds, very skeptical of dealing with them when it comes to these hand helds.
Was very tempted, luckily none of the good are in my area Chicagoland.

I'm skeptical too, but the Extreme at this price is very tempting. Not looking to replace my Steam Deck but I have countless games on non Steam services (mostly giveaways) I'd love to play but are too annoying to get running even using apps like Heroic.
Also, I'm a big fan of playing some of the late 90's thru early 2000's abandonware FPS games (Starship Troopers 2005, Klingon Honor Guard, etc). This should make that process easier as well as those lack any real support or user base in 2024....especially in Linux.

Its either 5 or 7 days I forget which.
Thats about perfect, thanks for the info!
Edit: anyone know if they ever built in a 'suspend' function like the Steam Deck and Switch have? Basically a hibernate mode which pauses your game? Looking into it there appears to be workarounds but no official support.

Remember, Steam does a lot of guerilla marketing-- DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON THE INTERNET-- if you buy it used you can still return it
The problem is not guerilla marketing or steam, its how bad Asus reputation has gotten with warranty support as was exposed by a major YT tech channel. They now try to blame anything they can find on the user and force you to pay hundreds of dollars for stuff that should be covered or threaten you with sending you back a taken apart unit....
The Rog Ally X has been announced. They'll be selling off stock of the current version so prices may drop further.
BTW the new version is similar to the current version but has twice the battery life and a likely fix for the SD card problem. It also has 24GB memory and 1TB 2280 SSD.
When is this expected?

It's really that simple-- pay the YouTuber and make the company look bad.
Lol dude do you work for Asus, or have you just not been keeping up with the news... Asus is already on the governments watch list for shady warranty practices.
Gamer Nexus is not going to put out a hit piece and risk loosing their standing, when they have a very good reputation currently in the Tech and gaming community on their reporting.

These will sell out before the price drops too much. Asus extended the warranty to 2 years yesterday.
It happens all the time, guess you work for Steam.
I currently have an Asus Rog laptop and it's been nothing but a dream.
I've had other higher end Asus products and have had no better or worse experience with customer service
If I had to pick someone to work for it would be Lenovo cause the Legion Go owns the Ally. That being said you clearly didnt even look at the video, or you just chose to ignore the possibility of Asus screwing its customers, which is nothing new to Asus. As has already happened and they got sued and lost to the government for their poor networking products and lack of support many years ago. Which is why now they have some of the best and most updated firmware for a lot of products, cause they got sued and lost and were forced to be able to do business in the US.

So I guess Gamer Nexus is shill, too. Someone is definitely a shill, though.
