Good CPU and GPU for the price, but it's pretty heavy for a modern laptop, at 5.4 lbs.

I have i7 version of this with 3050i. I agree, heavier, but I don't regret my purchase.

Why does anyone care if a laptop is 5lbs? Are there people that frail that cant carry 2lbs or 3lbs vs 5lbs in a laptop bag or backpack? Genuinely interested why anyone would care so much about the weight.

Even better if you can use the AMEX offer of "Spend $599 or more at Dell.com, get $100 back"

The Intel 10500 is a better deal, with a 3050ti and 512 ssd for $735. The cpus are close to each other in performance. Only downside is the Intel is 14 nm versus 7 nm tech for the Ryzen, which means much better power consumption and less heat. Back when amex had the $120 off $599 and cash back sites had 11%, this was a better deal, since also the Intel 10500 deal didn't exist.

Right there with you. It's such a weird complaint. 5lbs is nothing. I mean, maybe if they're bringing it on a flight and their baggage is getting weighed and every pound matters, but other than that, I don't see what the big deal is. You know it's not like most of these people are bringing it all over the place, anyways.

This is a desktop replacement that happens to be portable. This isn't meant to be lugged around from place to place all over the city or wherever every day.

If you want that spend more money and get a XPS model.

For reference a lot of us bought other g15 models like myself..

Ryzen7, gtx 3060 6gb, 16gb RAM, 512 SSD and a 165hz 300 nits 3ms screen... For around $1050 with tax after promo codes, and cash back (amex or visa) out the door.

This isn't a screaming hot deal.. Spend the extra money for the goodies next time the higher end model comes around.

That's just it -- those who travel care about the weight. When you bring a carryon that's packed with various items already, the extra 2-3 lbs can make a big difference especially with plane changes. Doesn't sound like much, but after several hours of dragging it around, it's noticeable.

That said, most business travelers aren't buying a gaming laptop anyway. Smilie

Maybe by a bit, but I generally don't see gaming laptops that are less than 3.5 pounds unless they hit a much higher price point.
