I know times change, and prices have been increasing, but during last year's holiday season BB had this for $600... and they threw-in a $100 GC. Lots of comments in the attached thread.

Last year's holiday season pricing was HIGHLY influenced by the pandemic & retailers operating in survival mode wanting to ensure they weren't left holding sheetloads of quickly aging stock. Really NOT a valid comparison.

I was going to get a 75" TV for my vision-impaired spouse last year that was on sale for a ridiculously low price (something like $500-550), but a 65" went on sale for $250ish and that was just big enough to qualify. It's been a surprisingly good performer (with a few tweaks), and I'm glad I went with it because I only just barely managed to get it home in my car - I'd have had to rent or borrow another vehicle for the 75" one.

By the time you include travel expenses for most Americans to get to a country where it's sold cheaper (and back), it most certainly blows the price you're suggesting away. Never mind the time and effort involved.
I think you misunderstood his comment. He's saying it's usually more expensive on the islands and that those of us on the mainland (USA or otherwise) should be able to find this for under $600.

And yet... here we are 9 months later, still riddled with Covid-19, and BB is still trying to unload these same 2020 NANO81's that they couldn't sell at a much better deal last year... except now they're calling it "clearance". Hmmm!

As mentioned elsewhere, prices have been going up everywhere on everything. The likely reason they couldn't sell these was the WebOS they use - it's just not catching on like Roku and now Android/Google TV.

I get that... that's why I said it in my original post to which you responded, "I know times change, and prices have been increasing".
