By consensus, the weekly Walgreen's Ad is being replaced by this comprehensive thread. Until Walgreen's gives us better deals, we'll be able to follow more easily all the comments in one continuous thread.

Please post any tips, deals, coupon finds to help us all improve our Walgreen's shopping experience.

Thanks to Sugraray for the reminder:

If it is a BUY deal, ex: Buy 2 and earn RR, you can use WCR, RR, MQ, IVC whatever you want and still will earn your reward.
If it is a SPEND deal, ex: Spend $12 earn $5 RR, be careful! You cannot use WCR because that is taken off before it totals your spend. Same with IVC coupons (Walgreens coupons, found in the little paper book and also digital). If you have RR, be sure it is the regular manufacturer RR with a normal large barcode. That is treated like a MQ so you do need an item without another coupon to attach to. The store RR have a small barcode and says Store Coupon and lowers your "Spend" amount.

Important Information not to be Ignored: Updating 8/8/2023 Restarting the Info thread.

If you have an issue in store, first come here and post about it. Do not run off to call Corporate because it can have unitended consequences.

(No longer available in store-The monthly book is in your DQ account coupons)
IVC is the paper coupon book found at the front of the store, new each month. Also available as digital store coupons. These are Walgreens coupons that can be paired- used at the same time as regular MQs.

At Walgreens, you must have one item for each coupon to attach to. For example: you are buying detergent, there is IVC for $1/1 and you have MQ $1/1. That is two coupons, so you need to add an item without a Q as a filler. Often Ramen, candy bar, sometimes tuna or broth.

Abbreviations:

DQs (Digital Coupons found on your account)
OTU (One Time Use)
OFY (Only For You-DQs)
Booster (Points coupons found digitally on your account or printed in store at the register's catalina machine)
PO or BOPIS (Pickup Order or Buy Online Pickup In Store)

Do I earn rewards on prescriptions?
You earn 1% Walgreens Cash rewards on the amount you spend out of pocket in our stores, including the amount you spend for a prescription. A prescription with a $0 copay won't earn Walgreens Cash rewards because you didn't pay anything out of pocket for the prescription. (Varies by State)

What do I need to redeem my Walgreens Cash rewards?
Your email or home address is required to redeem Walgreens Cash rewards. The best way to access personalized deals and additional program benefits is by adding your email address to your profile. - Your zip code is your redemption code.

You can earn 5% Walgreens Cash rewards on all Walgreens branded products. This means anytime you buy a product carrying the Walgreens brand name—including beauty products like facial cleansers or nail polish remover and health essentials like vitamins—you'll earn unlimited 5% Walgreens Cash rewards.

How does Pickup at Walgreens work?
Our Pickup service makes it easy to shop your local store online at Walgreens.com or with the Walgreens App, then pick up your order in as little as 30 minutes.4 Choose your store and shop products on Walgreens.com or the Walgreens App. Then choose curbside, drive-thru or in-store pickup. It's easy! We'll send you a notification email (and text if you opt in) when your order is ready, then visit the store and tap the "I'm here" button in the email or text link to let us know. A team member will bring the order to you.

How do I create a digital Wallet for contactless checkout? (Updated some areas have no access to this)

Join myWalgreens® and make sure you're using the latest version of the Walgreens App. Once you sign in to myWalgreens on the app, select your digital Wallet in the menu to add your credit card. Then you can start enjoying fast, contactless checkout!

Q & A

KikiandD Q:
"I am not a Walgreen's Extreme Couponer, though I aspire to be. I think you actually have to have a total over the booster threshold to get the points. Like, this week my digital booster amount is $30, so I have to actually spend that. I *think* that you can use register rewards in the store as part of your payment and it will still work, but I haven't gotten to this level yet. Still trying to amass register rewards.
Still a little confused about how it works if you use some Walgreen's bucks but still spend over the amount. I don't think that would work but I could be wrong. But another question, If you use Walgreen's bucks but still spend over $20 out of pocket, will that transaction count on your score card (meaning, do seven transactions of $20 or more in December, and earn an extra $10 in points)?"

Valencia22 A:

Yes, you can use Register Rewards to help cover your amount toward Boosters but you have to make sure that the ones you use say, Manufacture CPN at the top. Those count like coupons. You just have to make sure you have an item for each one to attach to. The Register Rewards that say Store CPN at the top work like store coupons so that amount would count against your total and only one can be used per transaction.

As far as boosters, the digital ones are more flexible to use than the printed ones. Printed ones, you can not use any Wags Cash and still earn the Booster. With the digital offers, as long as your subtotal before manufacture's coupons but after any Wags Cash/StoreCredit/Store Qs used is equal to or greater than the amount of your threshold, you can earn the Booster. To specifically answer your question about your 7 transactions, you don't have to spend $20 cash oop each time. Manufacture's coupons and RRs will count towards that $20. I did a transaction this week that may be a little bit more advanced but hopefully it will give you a better idea of what I am saying:
My Booster Offer was $5 wys $20 so I bought:

3 Snickers Bars $2.64 - $1/2 ip
2 Colgate Renewal $13.98 - $3 dq - $3 dq
2 BIC Razors $9.73 - $5 dq
2 Colgate Adv. $7.98 - $4/2 dq
2 Crest PH $6 - $2 mq - $2 mq
Subtotal: $40.33
I redeemed $20 in Wags Cash so now my total was $20.33 (still enough to earn Booster)
$20.33 - $20 qs = .33 + tax (paid oop)
I got back $9 WC ($5 = Booster, $4 = Colgate) $13 RR ($6 = Colgate Renewal, $4 = BIC and $3 = Crest). I also earned an extra $2 WC because I get 10% back all month for my birthday and I got .75 rebate offer for the Snickers

Wags can be confusing and irritating sometimes. I have had my share of failures but it gets a bit easier over time."

I went to my local store this morning and most of the 90% off toys were gone. I did get a Monopoly game and a Sorry game for $1.79 and BOGO 50% off. They had a ton of 300 piece puzzles for $1.09 and the manager said they had 50 more in the back room.

I was just at Wags. I got a Schick women's razor for $9.99 which was tagged for the deal and a Schick men's disposable for $6.99 that wasn't tagged but it said online that it counted. I had a 10/20 cat, added a Febreze, and I paid with a Dove RR and cash. I got the $10 for the 10/20 but did not get Schick. The cashier said that they can no longer issue W Cash at the store. I didn't want to refund because I'm not sure if I'd lose my 10/20 and the two $4 dq's that came off.
Call customer service. Interestingly enough, online it is acting as if it is 2 separate deals. I put 1 of each in cart and only pennies. I put 2 regular razors and it shows $5+. Same thing happened when I put in 3 disposables, $5+. Neither shows the other as being part of the deal.
The only way to have kept your $10/$20 cat (I'm so jealous 😂) and dq would have been if they did a post void for your transaction.

Thanks to FabPickle, I was able to get a few 90% toys for the neighborhood kids and so I could use some W cash. I always appreciate when people share their finds!

I did have a weird issue though. I wanted to use a $20 wys $1 cat from our vaccines last week, and use $5 Wcash. My subtotal, before tax, was $6.75. The cashier had applied the $5 Wcash before he scanned the cat and said he had to start over because he couldn't scan anything else after applying the $5 Wcash. The manager then came over, voided it and then showed that when she scanned the $20 wys $1 cat, she couldn't get to the screen to apply the $5 Wcash. She told me this changed around 2013. Is that right? If not, anyone know the order they use to process it?

In this case, it was no big deal because I had a $1.19 toy (90% off) that I had her do in a separate transaction from the one using the $5 Wcash.

I bought Walgreens 150 count fold top sandwich bags and 20 count quart storage bags today and they rang up $0.29 each. No shelf signs about the price reduction. I had them price check the freezer bags, but they were full price.

I had a men's schick at $6.99 and a women's at $9.99 in my online cart and the estimated rewards showed as 2 cents, so I'm not bothering with this one, it doesn't seem to be working which is par for the course at Walgreens. I had a $7 rewards wys $25 digital q and another for $7 wys $25 health and wellness, checked the exclusions, and prescriptions was the only thing possibly applicable for my order of allegra-d and flossers, did not get the register rewards for the flossers and no rewards for the digital q. Went on chat and the csr c&p'd some boilerplate list of exclusions which included products with pseudoephedrine, that list of exclusions is nowhere on their site so I told her b.s., and c&p'd her the exclusion list from the online q . She gave me both the missing register rewards and $7 digital q rewards as a 'courtesy'. Picked up 2 colgate optic white on my way home and didn't get the rr for that, did get a cat for $9 rewards wys $40 which the cashier kept insisting was the cat for the colgate, made me walk her to the aisle and show her the shelf tag, then she had a 10 minute pow wow with the manager, arguing with the manager that I shouldn't get the cat because I had q's come off (deal is wyb 2, not a spend amount). I am sick of their crap - they need to make the advertised offers work in the store as advertised.

Yes. You get the rewards based on the pre-MQ prices. Online estimates are very often wrong, unfortunately. Just don't redeem more than $1 WC and you should be fine!
Appreciate the feedback, but I don't need razors bad enough to put up with any more crap from Wag's about their advertised offers not working. Rewards didn't show up in my cart, I don't see them working in the store and don't have time to argue with them when they don't.

Online chat isn't too bad for getting credit for missing rewards, but it does annoy me they act like they're doing me some huge favor just giving me exactly what their own ad says I should have gotten, after half an hour messing around on chat.

If both are in the ad, then there's no reason not to call. That rule is when there's a hidden glitch that corporate could change.

I guess that Schick is really two deals. Nice of them to tell us that. I had a 10/20 that I wanted to use with my Dove bogo bodywash q. They had plenty in stock but all that the register would take were the two bottles pictured on the coupon (which I had already purchased). My second choice was Axe but I didn't really want it and it was out of stock anyway. Febreze was out of stock of the ones for the dq. Colgate and Crest were a mess and I already had a headache. I did Schick because I thought it would be easy. Two razors and a Febreze spray and I'd have a money maker deal and be out the door but the missing $5 prevented that from happening. I should've just done a repeat of my Pepsi deal with the 10/20. 3 for $16.99 is way too expensive but the $10 in W Cash makes it ok. I did my homework on this trip and it still didn't go as planned. That's disappointing. Usually, when I mess up it's because I haven't spent the time but now I realize that I'm always going to mess up at Wags no matter what I do. There's not much you can do when the store is so messed up and I'm not going to call or fight with the staff. I'll just refund it if the deal doesn't work out. The cashier was shocked because she was getting ready to do the refund. I had a similar situation a month ago with the same cashier where I did a refund and I came out way ahead so maybe I should've rolled the dice on this one. It wasn't my fault that Wags messed up the Schick deal(s) and can't input the Dove coupon correctly.

There are so many bad things that can happen in a phone call (like how come you have 2 million cards) so I never want to put myself in that situation. Plus, with my heart condition I can't afford to get myself upset and wind up back in the hospital. I have to shrug it off. The easiest thing to do is to just refund it. I didn't feel like doing a refund yesterday because I had already had some issues over the Dove coupon and decided to eat the $5. I still got $18 off my $20 order so it wasn't the end of the world. I should've done Pepsi instead. I always need soda pop (although I shouldn't be drinking it) but I already have a ton of razors.

Would chatting be better for you? They wouldn't know how many cards you have. I think you put in your name and email in to start. Just be sure to put in the email and name of the account you used. They will look up the transaction and issue the WC if necessary.

Thank you. I really hate to chase clearances, but that one is worth it, I guess. Probably not clearanced here in my area though.
