Had an old Hamilton Beach mixer for about 25 years. It was used when I got it at a rummage sale. That was a great mixer, but it finally went up in a puff of smoke.

I don't use my mixer all the time, so I didn't need to spend huge money on a replacement. Picked up a no-name off Amazon that got decent reviews and had a positive Fakespot rating. I hate that mixer because of one thing: there are 5 speeds, but the lowest speed is already way too fast. Anything I mix winds up splattering everywhere.

For less than $13 I decided it was worth the gamble to pick up this mixer. It can't be any worse than what I currently have.

I bought a 3-Speed Cuisinart Hand Mixer a few days ago through an Amazon deal posted here (Previous Cuisinart HM-3 deal). While the Cuisinart HM-3 was a dollar cheaper, this B&D mixer has more speeds and also includes dough hook attachments. So I think this is a better deal.

The helix blades actually work crazy well if your goal is to mix batter and other things together.

I'm a bit wary of using them for tough mixes, but the helix is pretty great. I never want to go back to rectangular blades.

The helix beaters are 'reinforced nylon' which really kills this as I wouldn't trust these to whip up butter and sugar which is a pretty good abrasive. The stainless steel bowls I use specifically for baked sweets have a polished bottom section. Can't imagine what that would do to plastic.

Wonder if this mixer could use stainless steel beaters of other hand mixers?

Awesome price on this. Got it at Home Depot for $21 and that was a good price. Great mixer! The beaters are easy to clean and I love the bread hook for making pizza dough!

No- the beaters have a unique "key lock" ring.

The beaters are great though- they're a nylon-like material. Very sturdy and easy to clean.

I have stainless bowls and have no issues. In fact, they don't scratch the bowls up as much.

I just purchased this mixer in the recent deal and I find the lowest speed is just way too fast and ends up kicking up flour out of the bowl on initial mixing. Although the helix beaters seem to work ok, I would much rather have steel beaters to ensure durability. Unfortunately, I will be returning the mixer.
