So you buy a ticket and travel by 11/18/21. Then buy ANOTHER ticket for 1/6-2/28/2022 and on THAT flight your companion flies free?

This is similar to last year deal, but not as good. Last year was book "a" flight by x date (2020) and travel by y date (2020). Have companion pass January to end of Feb 2021.

Basically, book a round trip ticket by 9/9/21 with travel dates before 11/18/2021 .
You will then have a companion pass to used with travel booked between 1/6/22 to 2/28/22

Notes: Price doesn't not matter. I booked a $60 one-way ticket between NYC and DC. Used the companion pass for my trip to Taos, NM in January. DC to ABQ roundtrip was $260, so i essentially saved $200 on airfare.

Doesn't it state it in the terms and conditions?

yep, best to use points unless you need the qualifying flight for next year. Points save you most taxes on US flights, so short flights get really cheap with points. international still cost a lot of cash.

That's how I read it. How does the companion accompany you on the trip when the dates of travel are different for the primary traveler and the companion?

This ends up being a buy 3 tickets, get the 4th free if a companion truly accompanies you. A 25% discount essentially.

I already had flights booked for later this month. If I "change" my flight to the same one and pay $0 for the change fee will that work?

Otherwise, if I cancel and rebook, the new price of the flight is higher than what I originally paid.

Man! I just booked three flights for October on Saturday. Anyone know if I'd have to cancel and re-book them in order to take advantage of this? If I have to cancel and re-book, does Southwest charge fees for that?

Can you use either Points or Travel Funds to purchase the initial tickets (the Book by 9/9, Fly by 11/18/2021 tickets) to qualify for the Companion Pass?
