The offer is valid from 6-7-2021 to 9-10-2021 and only to the first 50,000 people. They don't give you the discount right at the cash register... they give you a $20 credit at some point in the future *if* you are the first 50,000. So it's impossible to know if you are going to get the $20 or not. Back when they had the $10 back on a $20 transaction, I had to contact the Better Business Bureau to get the $10 from PayPal. I advise you to steer clear of this one; PayPal doesn't have the best reputation at fulfilling promotions like this.
Question for those with newly created Venmo account today - were you be able to use it for purchase at CVS?
I created and added a bank account but i would say the verfication will take till 9/13.
Yes I was able to. Don't link a bank account and wait to verify account and add funds.
Instead, link a credit card and set Venmo to pay with that when using scan to pay. They won't have any surcharge doing it this way. The 3% charge on credit card that you may read about is ONLY when you send funds to someone using a cc, NOT when purchasing anything in store.
Good luck and hope this helps!
P.S Make sure the cashier selects "Venmo" when paying with Venmo and not PayPal or Alipay (the third option). No headaches this way.
Pretty sure some people are just trolling on here. Tried to self scan gift card but it refused to work. Cashier tried and it just popped up ALTERNATE PAYMENT REQUIRED on their screen.

Used Venmo to get the AGC for $25. Digital receipt shows it charged my credit card for $5. But I have trouble redeeeming my AGC, it showing an error message saying it's invalid. FYI, for those who bought it for themselves, please try it and tell me if you are experiencing the same thing.
Amazing deal thanks OP followed the steps from OP's post why are people so confused it's so clear:
here is my breakdown and attachments for proof
1. Went to CVS picked up 2x $25 Amazon Gift cards
2. Told the cashier I want to do 2 separate transactions
3. One transaction with Venmo (only got charged $5 to balance)
4. One transaction with Paypal (PayPal gave me back $10 - moved it straight to the bank account).

Very helpful!
Were you be able to link a Credit Card on the Venmo App or on their web site?
Edit: I was able to add it on their web site. Hope this works till tomorrow.

Happened to me when source of funds was Venmo balance. Switched to the linked credit card and it went thru. That was about 40 minutes ago.

$20 off $25 gift card with $10 credited back to my paypal.
I went to my CVS, picked up 2 $25 shell gift cards. I paid for one with Venmo and for the other with PayPal.
For the Venmo transaction I was charged only $5 which makes sense ($25 -$20)
For PayPal transaction I was charged only $5 and on top of that there is a $10 credit to my PayPal account.
Essentially making $50 in gift cards for free. Anybody else seeing this ?
Edit: Just seeing previous posts about this stacked offer. way too cool.
