720p is approximately 1 MP, so I 'd assume that's what they mean.

This has Vega 8 graphics at 1200 MHz, and enough ram to service the GPU and system memory, so yes. Roblox runs fine on mobile phones, so this would be more than enough for Roblox, CSGo, Fortnite (at reasonable settings) etc.

Gateway is the "budget" brand of Acer. For those who think Acer wasn't already budget enough.

I'm guessing Evoo is licensing the trademark.
is already mention in prev post

In September 2020, Acer granted Gateway branding and licensing rights to Bmorn Technology, a Shenzhen based technology company to manufacture and sell Gateway branded laptops and tablets via Walmart where these devices are not designed, produced, or manufactured by Acer. Instead it's rebadging their existing EVOO branded laptops

Walmart prefer Gateway name than evoo, who is evoo? gateway.. ah the most trusted brand well in the past and already gone....

Walmart selling evoo gateway laptop started in late 2020, it was Motile in the past,

that is my understanding....

16 gb is probably sufficient, but can the ram be increased in this?
If you're buying a $350 laptop you don't need more than 16 GB of RAM

I'm sorry to sound dumb, but what is the deal here and why is it on the front page? It's originally $349, but on sale for $349?

Bought mine for the same price 6+ months ago. Was willing to give up durability for the price as I'm an adult and don't move this thing around much.

-Very happy with the speed so far for day-to-day use.
-Screen is matte, decent quality, not very bright. Someone said 250 nits in another thread, but not sure.
-4+ hours battery streaming 1080p video.
-Keyboard and pad seem fine, but others have complained about the pad.
-Speakers have very little volume.
-Case has some flex if you pick it up with one hand.
-Does not charge via USB-C.
-Added a 1TB M.2 SATA hard drive to the expansion port at the bottom. Super simple, has its own access panel. Expansion port doesn't seem to recognize NVMe M.2 drives.

Oh my. The Ryzen 5 3450U is quite a bit slower than the Ryzen 5 5500U that was in the $399 HP from a few weeks/months ago.

The fingerprint scanner and extra RAM (HP shipped with 8 GB, but had 4 GB x 2 in 2 slots) are nice though.

This is a relatively mediocre CPU by today's standards but it will be fine for almost anything except gaming and media creation.
It works for gaming, as long as you're playing older PS3-era stuff. I have this, because I just needed a cheap place holder until I can get a desktop built, and it plays most of that older stuff on high settings, between 30-60fps.

How does this compare to the EVOO posted yesterady? https://slickdeals.net/f/15269191-349-evoo-14-1-ultra-slim-notebook-elite-series-fhd-display-amd-ryzen-5-3500u-processor-with-radeon-vega-8-graphics-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-hd-webcam-windows-10-home?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

For anyone wondering what you can do with this: It will play most PS3/Xbox 360 era games on high settings, usually hitting at least 30fps, but frequently hitting 50-60. It'll play a decent amount of newer stuff, too, as long as it's not too graphics heavy.

I tried the demo of Outriders, a while back, just to see if it could even do it. It actually did run it. It was about 15-20fps, but I was surprised it worked at all. I've had this laptop for around 5 months. You can do more with it than you would expect for such a low-end device.

Owning both This Gateway GWTN156 as well as the Motile 142 (same as EVOO elite), I much prefer the build quality of the Motile/EVOO Elite. Seeing as how the EVOO Elite is the same price right now, I'd rather have the better build quality than the extra 8GB of ram. Its easy enough to upgrade if you need the extra memory. My Gateway 156 is relegated to my basement smart trainer (cycling) and my Motile remains my grab and go laptop.

Yes, that was precisely my point. It's fine for most users.

However, at this price and these features, you're going to be giving up something, and my guess it that something is "durability". I no longer buy low end laptops for family members from any brand, because they tend not to last too long without something breaking, which is usually proprietary and not worth fixing. This is going to be cheaply made and easily damaged, and if you're absolutely stuck and can't afford more right now, sure, go for it, with the assumption that in 2 or 3 years you'll need to replace it; not because it's obsolete but because it's cheaper to replace than fix.
I really have no complaint about performance of this, but the laptop is perhaps one of the least sturdy builds ever.

To those talking about memory: I believe the the GPU uses 2 Gb of shared memory. I have 12 Gb (4+8) in my older Ryzen 3500, 10 Gb usable. Really plenty if you aren't doing anything crazy. However, I wouldn't recommend 8 Gb on these memory shared Ryzen processors. 16 Gb is more than enough.
