Absolutely true! We bought blue diamond dog food off of Amazon. Made our puppy sick for weeks. Turns out we got a counterfeit bag off Amazon. We found out by comparing the exact same food from a retail store and the kibble was different shape and color. Switched food and our pup started doing a lot better. Google all the issues people have been having.

Buyer beware when ordering food or supplements from there. It's not regulated and counterfeit products are rampant.

Amazon mixes their stock with 3rd party stock. Anyone can open a "fulfilled by amazon" storefront, send counterfeit products in for Amazon to store and ship, then Amazon dumps them all in the same bins. You play the counterfeit lottery with everything you buy on Amazon, even if "sold and shipped by amazon". Seems unlikely anyone would counterfeit dog treats, but nowadays who knows.

Chewy is MUCH better except for the shipping cost! Amazon Prime orders now take 8 to 11 days to arrive by UPS Ground in our area of MA but the shipping- while horribly slow — is free with Prime. But if you meet the $50 minimum on Chewy then definitely go with Chewy! We usually get Chewy shipments the next day. One time we got our shipment the same day.

If you can meet the $49 free shipping threshold sure. Otherwise Amazon is better.
