Got one last week for this price(minus the lens) and I love it. (also own GP max, Insta360 4k, DSLRs etc)

On bright sunny days, DJI out of box colors are like a painting.
On cloudy days, colors get slightly soft (less contrast)

- The gimbal whips are super smooth for something so small.
- Some features (tracking?) won't work on Pro mode 4K etc so read up.
- No built in wireless...$99 for that add-on. That's a blue ball. So, you have plug it into your phone/pad.
- It's clunky with this next to your phone or pad. A holder for both is almost required.
- Oh, if your micro ssd isn't fast enough when 4k 30/60 is set, it may stop on you but only output a very short warning which I missed couple of times. I put in a SDSQXA1-256G-GN6MA.

Blame this book on caffeine, but hope that help someone on the fence.

I have the first version of this and it's pretty neat but honestly it sits on a shelf more often than not

I have this camera and use it for youtube. I shoot outdoors mainly and the wide angle lens is not particularly useful because the native lens is already pretty wide and because it's not compatible with ND filters. I would say you should wait for the base camera to go on sale if you are looking at this. DJI usually releases products on a 2 year cycle, and this one came out last year.

I also have the first version of this camera, and even though it's 2 years older, if you can live with the slightly narrower field of view, it's got more natural looking color reproduction and the performance is essentially the same. You could get a used one of those for about 100-150 most of the time and I think that's a good place to start if you are interested in this sort of thing.

I followed the first gen closely and didn't like the fact that everything needed accessories to happen, such as connecting with your phone. I looked at competitors but they all had fixed focus lenses, whereas the DJI offerings could actually have a little depth of field. Guess I couldn't find a product that had it all so I ended up not committing to any of them

Is the low light performance comparable to a MFT 2.8 lens?

on paper it seems like the dji pocket 2 would perform better at low light. it has the bigger sensor out of the "action" cameras as well. lens are f/1.8

I wonder if sales on this model indicate Pocket 3 is up on the horizon.

I'd say wait for black friday if you can hold out but definitely pick one up! It's extremely convenient and after a while it becomes second nature to use it vs your phone.

Tip for those who don't read manuals. Long press the button to the right of the play button to boot up the camera facing outward. For about 2 months I was using the regular start button then triple tapping to rotate it

I wouldn't get my hopes up. Not an expert but with the chip shortages and container shipping costs still being crazy, I think they're not planning on pumping out anything huge until later.

They did a rehash of the Mini drone and the OM 5 phone gimbal came out recently but neither of them are anything groundbreaking as far as releases go. I think they just put those out with slightly new tech just to get rid of old unused stock from their original versions.

Not really. The 1/2.3" sensor is ~ 29 mm^2. A micro four thirds sensor is 225 mm^2. So the DJI sensor is 7.8 times smaller. So approximately 3 more (based on powers of two) stops of light gathering. f/1.8 + 3 stops is about f/5 compared to MFT. In this case the MFT sensor with an f/2.8 lens would gather about 1 2/3 stops more light then the DJI.
