$225 at Samsung with work/school discount.
Per CCC, best price yet, equal to holiday / Black Friday pricing last year.
*Edit: I can find no indication that the controller swap affects this 2TB model.

Note that Samsung potentially swapped the original controller (reported on 1TB model) but Amazon still lists the drive with original Phoenix controller. However the change is likely helpful for most users due to pairing with a larger SLC cache, only hurting performance on sustained writes beyond SLC cache size (115 GB on replacement 1TB model; ?? for 2TB). New controller may run hot also.

No. Ps5 must be gen4. and u should wait anyway. The extended storage is in beta. And sony is using players as free testers. For real. Wait for the bugs and errors to be worked out.

As I kept posting to EVERY NVMe thread, I've been waiting for this one to come back. Glad it did, and I bit, but I wish it had before I succumbed to the WD Blue recently. That one has gotten my P53 fans running overtime.

It feels like storage prices have been falling a bit lately despite all the supply chain problems going on...or am I just having selective memory?

This is the best gen3 drive. Also Samsung updated controller on this drive making it more efficient. I test and review heatsinks for nvme alot. 970 Evo plus is main Gen3, 2nd to XpG s11 for comparison. It runs cooler under load ,bench mark, stress test. You do not need a heatsink. FYI Laptop users. If your in the market for nvme get this. Gen 4 is over rated for normal or gaming. Even new gen 4 7000mbps will only give a second or two faster for every day users and they run much hotter.

I have 2 slots on my laptop trying to figure out what is best economically. now

main slot- PCIE 4
2nd slot - PCIE 3

the stock SSD in the PCIE 4 is loaded with a pcie 3, slow.
stock SSD
https://www.harddrivebenchmark.ne...1&id=27432

Should I leave the stock SSD in 3, and just buy this PCIE 3 Samsung 970 evo plus and toss in the pcie 3 slot? should I leave the OS on the stock SSD and put steam etc on this one? or should I just buy a PCIE 4 Samsung 980 pro, put it in the 1st slot, and put the pcie 3 original ssd in pcie 3 2nd slot?

this is cheaper than the 980 pro

would I even notice a difference in any gaming going from
https://www.harddrivebenchmark.ne...1&id=27432

to 970 evo plus or 980 pro?

If you are rendering , uploading , transfering large files maybe 980. Check if laptop even supports gen4. But if you are just day to day use or gaming 970 evo plus. My boot/turn on to game load in 60sec or less with 970 evo plus. Any Gen4 will also run hotter.

I think in seeing the same. Ultimately HDD prices shot up because of Chia currency but now the currency declined in the Market. A lot of HDD dumping.

I got the sx8200 pro 2tb for i think $200 here on SD back in Dec2019? I think at the time it performed between the 970 Evo and the 970 pro. If that's the case I would definitely say that man that is still nowhere close to its lowest price. Although since I think I heard that Adata also changed the controller for the worse.
EDIT: yup Amazon lightning deal for BLack Friday 2019 it was $199
