You don't need to trade in but you need to sign-up/login with an EDU account

I've got Debian running on mine in the supported container. There are some more involved hoops you could jump through to get Windows running. Check some of the plentiful earlier threads for this device.

Good luck!

Guessing part of the reason for the low battery life is that it has to drive a 4K screen with an iGPU
Great build, keyboard, sound works well.

Battery life is sub-par. Some people say they have heat issues, but I never did. It does get warm though since it's fanless.

If you like the Chromebook concept, you'll never go back to low-powered chromebooks.
I got this red one on a similar deal. I'll echo what other posters are saying. Burning hot for me, great screen, fast, mediocre battery life. Tried a few times to put it on lap, but definitely not possible.

I still use it quite a bit plugged in as it's still a great laptop.

Battery sucks, screen-body ratio could be better, other than that, it's a great laptop.

I don't get what people are saying about heat problems. What are you guys doing, calculating PI to the Trillionth digit? It gets warm like everything, but I've never had a problem in the year I've owned it. As far as the battery life, after five hours I'm done on the thing. If I'm going to use a computer longer than that, I use a desktop with a real keyboard and monitor.

I got this for 350 and it used to get burning 🔥 when I had YouTube and few Chrome tabs open simultaneously
I returned a 13.3" 4K screen that I bought for $350... That should sum up how bad this thing is

**If you use it on a desk you can get by it .. but why would you get a 13.3" 4K screen to keep on a desk

I have this same model and I have to agree with the complaints. This is not worth this price. My price after discounts, 10% Samsung back to keep, c***back was roughly $250. At that price i kept for the beautiful screen just as a couch browser. The design is nice and the screen is incredible. Trackpad and keyboard are top tier. The BIG problems are the heat and atrocious battery life. This thing can barely pull 2.5-3 hours. The heat is also very noticible. This is not a good buy at this price. Frankly, after using both this and the chromebook 2 I would go for the 2. Sacrifice the 4k screen for better battery life and far far less heat.
