Seems like a good deal as long as you don't mind FAIR condition.

fair condition = cosmetic damages, missing remote, missing legs or mount. if it's an oled, it means possible store display model with burn in. ask me how I know. lol

Check in person often it can just be the store display missing a remote or the stand.

Usually around $1200-1250 for a 75" 8 series, so yeah approaching half price. If it was me I'd go for "Open Box - Excellent" for $780 instead of "Open Box - Fair" for $695

I just picked up a floor model 55" U8 from a local retailer. I was wary of Hisense because I have always considered it to be a budget brand. But, comparing it to the other models on display, it had the best picture. Only the OLEDs looked better, and they were at least twice as expensive. Pretty happy with this so far, though one thing to note is that the 75" model uses a different panel than the other sizes, slightly worse according to rtings. Still a solid deal though.

The 75" is a different panel from the other sizes with not as good contrast but better viewing angles according to RTINGS:

Yup, it's definitely going to be missing something. I had the same experience. "Open box" at Best Buy also often does not have a box at all

Open box excellent is usually the display. The store manager I talked to said they're usually up about a year.

Do y'all think the year of running matters long term? Worth the discount?

I have purchased 2 open box TVs from BB. They did not let me check the item before leaving the store. FIrst TV had a huge ass crack in it when I got it home and the second TV was basically brand new untouched.

I purchased a fair condition 75" Sony X90L for $700. When I got home and opened it, it was brand new, nothing had been opened and the TV was never powered on.

I have the 75"model. Unless someone is coming from OLED, the difference is negligible. This TV presents an outstanding image and at this price I can't imagine a better deal.

I have this TV. This seems like an outstanding deal. An open-box LED TV will most likely not have any display issues, unlike the risk with OLED panels.
This specific size uses an IPS panel, instead of the VA displays of the other sizes. While contrast is measurably worse, it seems negligible unless you're exclusively watching dark content in dark rooms. On the upside, it has much improved viewing angles.

It's incredibly bright, great for rooms where you can't control lighting or for eye-searing HDR content. It does really well in gaming, but if you rely on a TV for post-processing of lower resolution content you will not get quite the same results as a Sony product. Unless you're coming from OLED, this will impress.

See Rtings for the comparison https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...1045/50406
