I really disagree that this is a great screen. Glossy nightmare. I ordered one last deal and immediately returned.

WHY don't they make these with matte screens????

Agreed, it's only FHD too. The screen is probably the least appealing feature on this laptop.

It only impacts you if you use it outdoors. Indoors, it looks like the screen of a macbook pro, which is glossy too but pretty sharp.

I have this. Now I hate every other laptop. I didn't know how heavy other laptops were till I used a gram. Even a macbook air feels heavy compared to this.

LG Gram has become the gold standard for thin and lights/ultrabooks. Its absolutely amazing what LG accomplished with 2.5lbs. Absolutely one of the best laptops if you commute with one (school, work) and need low weight but without compromises. Only real downside is you definitely pay a bit more for such a premium design compared to similar performing laptops that are chunkier and cheaper feeling.

I bought this when it was $800 - great laptop, except that the USB-C port stopped working just a few days in (no data, no display, no power). I returned it. I seem to have bad luck with LG Gram laptops - the only other one I bought (about 3 years ago) died suddenly and completely, thankfully before the return period was up.

I have the 8th-gen version of this (typing on it now) and utterly love it. Performs extremely well and is super-light. I would happily get this deal if this bad boy wasn't in such good shape.

Did you wrongly assume this was a gaming laptop. It is not. If you want a gaming one this is not for you. Otherwise it is a great laptop. Plenty fast enough for most people.

This might be what you are looking for Intel Core i5-11400H. Look for that. This is not that. Few people would see the difference unless they are a gamer and then the GPU would make a big difference. But again this is NOT a gaming laptop.

There are plenty of them but they weigh far more. Weight is why people buy this. They are tired of four pound heaviness of laptops.

Perhaps with the 12th gen 6 cores will become the norm with an I5. But we can always wait for something better. We just end up with nothing in the meantime.

This is a very reasonable price for an LG gram with these specs. Usually you pay a premium for the form factor, but this isn't much more than other laptops (Ideapad, Pavilion, etc...) and unlike most of those, this does have a much better screen than the typical 250 nit IPS with mediocre color gamut.

Also, if you compare this to some of the competitors (especially Ideapads and Pavilions) lots of laptops in the $500-800 range have weak hinges that break in 1-2 years. The Grams are pretty well known for their durability, so for the price you are getting a light and durable laptop for a pretty decent price IMHO.

I do need to use it outdoors in my particular case, but even indoors I think glossy screens look awful.

Really? I had an Inspiron 16 Plus with a Matte screen that was technically a nice screen but seemed really dull next to my (Glossy) Inspiron 17 7706 and Samsung Galaxy Pro 15.

I got the Dell IP16 because of the great reviews especially because of the matte screen, but really couldn't get used to it.

For indoor use I find glossy screens a lot more vibrant - even for mostly productivity work.

A good portion of people like the "pop" a glossy screen gives them. They already know the drawbacks and will suffer with living with the screen. You will become an expert at tilting and turning your screen slightly, not terrible but some don't want to deal with that at all.
