Has anyone let the gpu expire first then add 3 12-month gold and do the $1 conversion? How long do you have to be without gpu after the expiration to be considered a new subscription?
If you previously had GPU, it is unlikely you will get the offer for $1, however you can still pay the full $14.99 to upgrade or get a discounted GPU code where ever. As far as how long you have to wait, just wait until you can no longer play your downloaded gamepass games (Xbox will ask if you own the game or to insert the disk yadda yadda), then you are good to go to load up on live and convert again (just won't be $1, it will be as above...)

It was 1 dollar for me and I was a previous GPU member who used the 1 dollar conversion before.
My GPU subscription ended a couple of months ago and when I logged on and visited the Xbox promotional offers page, I saw the upgrade to $1 offer. Clicked on it to be sure and it again said it was $1 to upgrade Live to GPU. So I went back to Newegg, purchased the Live code, applied it to my account, went back to the promo offers, clicked on the upgrade to $1 offer, and it brought me to a page where it said it would cost $14.99 to upgrade. Seems like a total bait and switch. I even called Xbox Support and they have me on the phone for a half an hour only to tell me that I was shit out of luck. Now I'm stuck with Live for a year which I don't really care for. Oh well.

Like I said in a previous reply here, the $1 re-upgrade is YMMV, sometimes people get it, sometimes they don't. You're still best to stack 36 months then upgrade, or re-upgrade.

Their website can be iffy with deals like this. Usually you should try to click through for the offer and then it will ask you to sign into your account. After that, go back to the previous page and it will update with whatever offer they will actually give you. Happens all the time when I try to redeem the free Games with Gold every month.

You are not stuck with live for a year. Cough up the 15 bucks or find a month code for cheaper...
This statement doesn't appear to be accurate. I just purchased this thinking that I would get 12 months of GPU, but only got Xbox Live. My GPU subscription was not active previously.
my gpu runs out in june 2022. i will use this deal to get 3 years xbox gold then it when my gpu sub expire. i will then buy 1 buck for 3 months or 3 months on rewards

Game pass == a rental scheme of tittles that MS may pull any time. This has me buying C i like Some have been obvious promos. Some are partial games. Some are great games but most are old or low quality. I got 3 yr convert form gold seal so I'm not crying about it, but if I bought This I'd want it to be gold. Converting it to 3 month game pass is a rip off

I'm always thinking if I have a code sitting around it's gonna somehow get used.
