For those with the AMEX offer (when you spend $99.99, you get $25 back), you can sign up for the yearly plan for $109.99 but it isn't obvious how to do that.

Here's the trick to do that. First sign up for the $7.49 monthly plan. Then once you have that setup, click on your name in the top right corner, go to Subscriptions > Manage Subscriptions > Switch Plans > Select Yearly > Select the offer for $109.99

On the next page to confirm, it's going to say:
"You will be charged $102.5 today, which is the price difference between plans plus applicable taxes. Please note if you're currently participating in a promotional offer, it will not carry over to your new plan."

In this way, you can get the $40 discount, which is not quite as much as $45 saved on the 6 monthly payments, but at least you will also get $25 back from AMEX. The net cost would be $84.99 for 12 months which ends up averaging around $7.0825/month.
Existing is my guess. Maybe could cancel current plan and subscribe to this one? Edit, you probably need to create a new acct if that doesn't work. Another member confirmed, canceling and resigning up didn't work.
At this price, willing to give it a try. With Amazon, Showtime, Paramount+ and Netflix, you would think one would never run out of things to watch. Not always the case. I had Starz for a couple of months and after it expired, I missed it. Sometimes I think all of this a la carte stuff is getting out of control. Maybe cable wasn't so bad after all.

Did you get the Amex email confirming promo activation ? Never got mine
I did not get any email from AMEX, I went to the online customer site (where you can service your account) and they have many special offers listed there, find the HBO MAX $25 off special and just click on it to register your card to the deal. I think the deal is only good to Sept. 26.

How do you buy the hbo subscription from a subscription provider like Sony? Can you do that in a playstation account and potentially pay using playstation account credit?

Man, they are almost giving it away it seems. Hard pass since we got Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, Disney, and Prime already...
I pay less than this for each of those services so, by your definition, they're all just giving them away. Meanwhile, we've gone from Netflix having it all for $8/month to paying dozens of dollars per month while you think they're giving it away.

For the AMEX $25 statement credit deal, does the statement credit take a long time to kick-in?

Great news! You recently used your Amex Offer at HBO DSI INC / STRIPE

Current customers can sign up for a year at 109.99, I just got an email from them today. I am a current user at 15 a month and love the service. I'll be signing up for a year more.

How is this a good deal?? $7.50 for 6 months might be good.... $7.50 each month??? What a rip!!
If that's how low you need the price to be for it to be a good deal you're probably better off using the money for essentials like food.

Cancelled existing and signed up with a different email. It's our least used streaming service. I mostly only use it for watching a new theatrical release.

It's also the slowest, clunkiest, and buggiest app on our Rokus. Sometimes the images don't even load and I'm just skipping through titles. Lol

As an existing HBO Max customer with a $9.99 with ads monthly plan, I hopped on this deal. I disabled my VPN to avoid glitches when signing in with my Firefox browser. I had the $25 off $99.99 or more AmEx offer saved to my card. First I switched payment from Mastercard to AmEx. I logged out of HBO Max and went to the R******* site for the $16 cash back bonus. Once linked back to HBO Max, I changed my subscription to the ad free yearly @ $109.99. The $40 bonus was automatically applied. HBO Max charged $104.66 to my AmEx and the $25 AmEx promo was applied in minutes. This brings me to $79.66 annual/$6.63 monthly. If I receive the additional $16 cashback from R****** , that drops to $63.66 annual/$5.30 monthly. I marked my calendar to remind me to cancel on this date in 2022 as it will auto charge $149.99. Boy I hope my math is right here. Thanks Jimmy.
