Unless it's health related, why do people do this? You are who you are. Are you going to start "acting" differently if you find out your X% of whatever? Lol 😂😂😂😂

So that's what this company does. I live down the street from their building and never knew what they produce.

I've been very hesitant to use one of these services. It's not only revealing my genetic information to a company, but information about all of my blood relatives... Seems fraught with risks. I wouldn't voluntarily give the police my DNA, but that's essentially what happens with at least some of these companies. And knowing how often data leaks happen, I would expect that eventually all of this information will be publicly available.

Anonymous SD lurkers fear their DNA will be stolen and an army of rando SD lurkers will be created to call about price mistakes.

That is a risk for sure but I decided that the medical info in this test is worth that risk . Finding out if you might have a genetic propensity toward a number of conditions and diseases is worth knowing . Now there may be a risk in getting that info in terms of getting insurance if you are younger . In terms of health insurance I understand that insurance companies are not supposed to be able to charge more for pre-existing conditions. However in terms of life insurance I suppose they can and do charge more to people with pre-existing conditions. That being said most of these genetic conditions do not manifest themselves until your later years - so maybe a 30 year old buying a 15 year term policy will not be affected. Nonetheless to be safe if I were younger I would get a whole life policy before you take this test . You can always cancel the policy or stop making payments if it turns out you have no predisposition to any of these conditions.

Probably because some people are curious about where they came from. I doubt too many people start wearing kilts after taking a DNA test but it is still fun to know a little bit about yourself.

Question, why do you watch TV or read books? Do you start acting different after watching an episode of Friends? Lol 😂😂😂😂

Well, for me, it helped me locate relatives I never knew I had, so that was well worth $50! I got my test back in 2007, and have not paid anything since, yet they keep sending me continuous updates on my background, and also able to connect me with others in my tree (as long as they have also opted in, and want to be found).

I am so mad I missed this sale! Wanted to buy 3 for gifts to my family.

If you need a DNA test to "know a little bit about yourself", I feel sorry for you. lol.

You are who you are. What location your relatives came from doesn't make who you are. Your thoughts, actions, and decisions "make" who you are.

I read books/watch movies to be entertained....like everyone else.

Are there any companies that will allow you to do a test completely anonymously? Or reserve the rights to any medical products that could come from your info? That would be a nice business. I'd do it. They could even set it up where you could still connect with potential relatives, but in an anonymous way.

Oh, now you are trying to be deep. Sorry if some of us think that 500-1000 of years of migratory history within our lineage is slightly interesting. Especially when getting that information is as easy as spitting into a cup. Betting you have memorized the stats of countless baseball players who are long dead, waste hours playing fantasy football or watch TV shows you won't remember the following day.

Who we are is also part of our DNA, nature and nurture. Many of these tests can find traits, help verify family trees, discover medical / allergy information, and even link you to a long lost family member. In fact, Ancestry connected my wife to a cousin who everyone in my wife's family assumed had died as the parents disappeared in the middle of the night decades ago when she was a small child and until my wife's DNA test no one had heard from her or her family since that night....all by using useless familial DNA cross referencing! Much better than streaming that episode of Tiger King for the 8th time. Or at least to us peasants.

I'm sure you've wasted $59 on far more meaningless things than a DNA test, like TV and movies? And that explains why you lack any imagination, you must be spoon-fed a narrative....like everyone else. Really sad you must lash out at people who have other interests than you. Good luck with that.

Lol. Apparently YOU CARE about my opinion 😂😂😂😂. So feel sorry for yourself.
Nope, just bursting your bubble. Seems to have worked.

Duh! I said the only reason for these tests are for medical purposes.
Because you "said" something makes it true? No surprise your world view is so narrow. Lack of critical thinking from just watching TV? Just a guess.

It's very odd you compare DNA tests to movies/tv shows.
Very odd 😂😂😂
For someone so shortsighted I can see how comparing different topics by commonalities could be confusing.

No, but you must get commission for using "😂😂😂." Speaks volumes (that means "a lot").

You are who you are. You don't need to know the history of OTHER PEOPLE to figure that out.
Perhaps you could use a little more introspective reflection.

Notice you didn't reply to the account of my wife being reunited to a childhood friend and relative for the low low cost of $59? Did not see value in that or did that hurt your case punctuated by emojis?

Don't forget....Tiger King is on and it only costs you $170-$200 per year to watch the same three shows over and over and over again. I only paid a single time for the DNA test and I get new info everyday PLUS I can export it to countless other databases. How does that fantasy football help you in the real world?

Oh, and I'm not going to miss $60 or $6000 dollars at the end of the year. Drop in the bucket....

*Nothing like humbling the Dunning–Kruger afflicted.

Oh penis jokes...how 7th grade. Not surprising to someone who ends every thought with "😂😂😂😂" is devoid of anything more substantial then that....mentally that is. Can't keep up with your own conversation so you resort to innuendo? "😂😂😂😂" indeed. I'm sure attempting to bully others on the internet, as manly as that is, will compensate for whatever inadequacy you are running from. But anyway, thanks for the laugh Mr. Baskin.

BTW, measuring yourself by the standard of "everyone else" shows exactly what kind of person you are. The lowest common denominator is your glass ceiling 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Enjoy not being lonely by picking fights with a half dozen strangers on an expired deal. Real full life you got there, apparently Netflix doesn't fill the gap quite as much as you pretend.....
