RTings review: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u7g
  • According to the RTings review, "The 75" model has an IPS panel". So it may have worse contrast, but better viewing angles.
  • However, the discussions at RTings here [rtings.com] and here [rtings.com] and others are not conclusive as to whether it is an IPS, with some users reporting similar contrast to other VA sets.
  • Also, some discussions at AVSForum also appear to say that the quality is on par with VA panels, for instance, this post [avsforum.com] and others.

Would like for the 65 to be 900. That VA set looks great.

I have the 75 Vizio P quantum X 2019.
Would this be a significant upgrade?

I wouldn't buy a tv now this close to BF, unless you need one now .

Considering how lackluster the BFs have been in recent memory, you're probably not going to see significantly lower prices. And given the frequent unpredictable price hikes, chip shortages and all that jazz, waiting for prices to come down doesn't seem like a good idea anymore.

Why are tvs so damn expensive lately? What happened to the 50"-65" $300-$500 deals?
Covid, inflation, slow supply chain, component shortages...

^^ but its starting to become a buyer's market again Applause
Really? Why do you think that? Not much has changed to bring down the prices....keep hoping and praying, but it's going to be a while.

The BF doorbuster TVs in 2020 were actually pretty good:
$250 for a 65" Hisense H6510G at Best Buy
$230 for a 65" TCL 65S434 at Target

But the BF non-doorbuster TVs in 2020 were not as good and the U7G will probably not be a BF doorbuster TV. Also the BF doorbuster TVs are usually a BF variant of the entry level Hisense A6G and the panels tends to have major DSE issues.

I don't think that will be the case for the mid and high grade sets from Costco, etc. They always have sales (and prices have recently been jacked up). Like the guy said, if you need one that's one thing, but if you can there is no reason not to wait a few weeks and see what the deals are. There will be some.

Lot of questions around here on this set over the past week. Having owned this set for the past 30 days I feel like it is worth it at this price. The viewing angle is pretty bad from the sides, but if you're sitting dead center with the TV it looks as good as my LG CX.

Here is a quick video I uploaded to YouTube to give you a feel for the image quality. I just uploaded, so it may only be showing 360p, give it a minute. https://youtu.be/d8lZh_mHobc

I got mine yesterday. Loving it. Did not play nice with my old Denon AVR. Replaced it. For the price it's gonna be hard to beat.
Getting setup still https://imgur.com/gallery/9gQdRWJ
