some outdoor plugs have dimmers, but no smart outdoor plugs have them. its a bummer.

but this is a great plug besides that—works well (so long as your 2.4ghz wifi signal reaches it)

I JUST purchased this about a week ago. Oh Well! Anyways, it works great and I am so loving it, especially when I forget to turn the surge protector off in the backyard, now its just pulling out the phone and shutting it down.

the patio string lights I have has a dimmer plugin.

What if I plug that dimmer box into this outlet? Will it make it smart then?

I got the older model KP400 during Prime Day ($10) and love it. Easy to set up--controls our outdoor string lights and fan under the gazebo.

This is simply an on/off. You could use Alexa to turn on your plugged in string lights and then use the app for your lights just as though they were plugged into a regular outlet, if that's what you mean.

I have the older model and use it to run my pond pumps, it's great. I have a love/hate relationship with Kasa. All of their light switches and smart plugs are top notch. Their security is absolute garbage. No MFA and not even an email telling you a new sign in occurred. For my lights, I really don't care if someone hacked my account and started turning them on and off but this is why you NEVER buy a Kasa camera. Someone can be logged in and watching your cams and you wouldn't even know.

Anyone know how well does it do in snowy weather? I'm thinking ahead for like holiday lights… it says IP64 weather resistance don't know the extent of that.

I got the Treat Life from Amazon and use it for my landscape lighting. It doesn't connect to Alexa or Google if you mean smart device. But it is controllable via app and dims. Love it.


Edit: actually my mistake, the Treat life does work with Alexa. It is awesome. I forgot that I had set it up. I just told it to set landscape lights to 50% and it worked.

I have one already, I use for the pool in the summer and Christmas lights outside in the winter, might get one for the tree to be lazy for sure easy to set up and use, timer is very best tool!
