I've always bought Costco tires due to the peace of mind of warranty and free rotations, but you should beware of their new warranty replacement policy. If they have to replace a tire, you get a credit for what you paid for (discounted price, let's say 140) but calculating what u need to pay, the price they use is the current price(180). Since current price for 1 tire is never discounted, u will end up paying the difference ($40)in a warranty repair. On top of it they charge a installation fee. I recently had to pay $65 on a $170 tire warranty replacement 4 monbths after I bought them at Costco.
They conveniently add like $100 of "extra fees" during checkout then subtract $150. So it's like $50 off total on the stupid expensive tires that they sell.
You can use this deal to pricematch with America's tires. You can live chat with agents on their website. I got a better deal than Costco by doing this.

This review has convinced me to jump onto the Crossclimate bandwagon - https://www.tyrereviews.com/Artic...e-Test.htm

I will keep you posted when snow is here.
the review gave the crossclimate below avg wet handling. Frown

why are you so focused on snow traction?
why arent you focusing more on wet traction?

you're going to be on the road more often in rain than in snow

Help. I've got 255/60/18 on our Mazda CX-9 SUV and the Costco app is only presenting me two choices in that size, not including the CrossClimates. Are those available only certain locations or sizes?

yeah, i'm looking at the CROSSCLIMATE2 also but it seems to be a new tire.

only 800k miles worth of reviews at TireRack.
And a 9.2 rating in snow?! for an all-season tire?!
Yeah, the consumer ratings are to be taken with a grain of salt, like for all newly released tires.

ie: The Defender was also #1 in it's tire class when it came out years ago.
it's nowhere near the hype it turned out to be

edit:
2021 review of CrossClimate2 vs Defender vs Pilot Sport 4s vs Pilot Sport
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/te...p?ttid=270

the Winter conditions of the test has not yet been completed.
so if i get the crossclimate2, it'll be a leap of faith based on the Michelin brand alone. EEK!

edit2:
interesting that TireRack doesnt have anything on the Michelin - X Tour A/S??
X Tour is Costco model of the Defender. On phone right now and too lazy to search for the review but the two are pretty much identical. Ordered the X Tour last night over the CrossClimate2 since I dont ride on the snow and friend who used to work at costco tire center recommended me the X Tour based on my usage.

Every Michelin tire that fits my car has been out of stock for months at Costco. Other online competitors have stock available. It's been frustrating.
Same experience for me as well.

Next coupon book starting Sept 29 has $110 Michelin tires except x-ice and cross climate 2 are $150.

I'm considering cross climate 2 since the OEM premier a/s is almost with down after only 35k miles.

Costco only carries certain sizes (if available) for each tire. If they don't show up in your size, it's not available - and they can't ship it to you either.

I need to replace tires on a Subaru Outback. It came with Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport AS tires which I didn't realize were so bad until I saw them near the bottom of Tire Rack's ranking in that category.

So I'm looking at the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S vs. Cross Climate 2. That's some funky tread on the Cross Climate 2 and not enough Tire Rack miles tested for me to be completely comfortable taking a chance on that tire, unless I see more positive reviews pretty quickly.

So I would be grateful if you post back here again after you have driven yours enough to form some opinions about them. :-)

Thanks!
We didn't want to make the jump to the CrossClimate 2 either, no snow here anyway.. though it's supposedly great in dry and wet weather anyway. Ended up with the Primacy Tour A/S on one of our cars last year and they've been great. Have about 8-9K miles on them so far. They replaced Michelin MXV4 tires, and in the past I had Michelin Pilot Exaltos installed on all of our cars. I would definitely recommend the Primacy Tour tires. Wet and dry traction has been on par with the best Michelin tires we've had.

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 tires coming in for my own car soon, also from Costco. One of the few "AA" traction rated tires. I'm willing to sacrifice fuel economy for traction, it's a sticky tire so I know my gas mileage will dip a bit. Recently had to panic stop after a van cut me off then slammed on his brakes because someone cut HIM off.. so I definitely want good tires.

In November 2019 Costco put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3 tires on my car. A couple of months ago I got squeezed while going around a right turn and scraped the right rear wheel\tire against the curb. This ripped a 3/4" tear in the rub protector strip on the tire at the rim and up into the sidewall. The tires had only 6000 miles on them because of pandemic not driving.

Costco replaced both rear tires with new Michelin Pilot AS 4 tires (Pilot AS 3 no longer available). Total out of pocket cost to me - $28.

Replacing the rear tires also got rid of a mild thump - thump I never bothered to investigate, so win-win, happy-happy.

Thanks for this. Leads me to feel better about getting the Primacy A/S instead of the CrossClimate.

I had Pilot Exalto tires on my Mazdas for years and loved them. Then I moved to Pilot Sport AS tires when they dropped the Exaltos and I love the Pilots as well. For me the improvement in handling, braking, etc., is worth the drop in mpg (about 2.0 mpg for me). If you really want to take it up a notch, replace the OEM struts\shocks with a set of Koni Special Active Reds.

Just to add a thing about Mischelin tires, when you buy a set, they come with roadside assistance included. I believe it covers flats, ran out of gas, or locked keys inside. They will even pay to tow if that is necessary.

I live in northern New England area. Winter is longer than summer. It is a matter of opinion.

I have Defender on the minivan. It works great with rain but snow is pretty good. You won't go wrong with Michelin tires.
