From my reading, RAX78 (this one) is pretty much the same as RAX70 though the RAX70 has slightly faster AX 2x2 speed at both 2.4GHz (600Mbps vs 460) and 5GHz (1200Mbps vs 960). 5GHz 4x4 speed is the same at 4800Mbps but I don't have any client that'd take advantage of that. My thought is that in real world, there will be very little difference between these two and AX86U will edge out both if you have a very large space but for the vast majority of people this router would be just as good as AX86U and RAX70. Considering it's from Costco and a return would be pretty easy, I might just try it out.

R7000 is a model from 2013, which was not built for gigabit wireless and real life wifi max has been tested to be less than 450Mbps with the fastest compatible client in the same room within direct line of sight. 100Mbps is probably too low but not unrealistic unless you are pretty close to the router.
I am downstairs while the router (R7000) is upstairs in a room not directly above me and yet I got faster download speed (305Mbps) from my phone using the Ookla app than my actual internet speed (FIOS 200/200). Not everyone will see this kind of speed as my neighboring houses are about 100 ft apart which keeps the interference low. When I go to the patio or the furthest room in the basement, the signal is weak / speed is low and that's what I hope to improve with a new router as most of my client devices now support wifi 6. My R7000 has been rock solid for 7+ years though I run Merlin and not stock Netgear FW.
