Does it come with its own Darth Vader and Storm Trooper mini-figures?
That and also their firmware updates just stop after a while. I will go with Asus any day as they regularly update their routers . I am currently waiting for an AX 86U deal.
I don't know why someone (have a lot of them here) would thumb down your question but I'd like to know as well if anyone owned both routers for a medium sized house. This Nighthawk (RAX78) @$200 is very likely a better deal (lowest for AX86U I have seen around $250) but in terms of speed over distance AX86U would likely win, especially at the end of range. Asus also has a 2.5GbE WAN port.

From my reading, RAX78 (this one) is pretty much the same as RAX70 though the RAX70 has slightly faster AX 2x2 speed at both 2.4GHz (600Mbps vs 460) and 5GHz (1200Mbps vs 960). 5GHz 4x4 speed is the same at 4800Mbps but I don't have any client that'd take advantage of that. My thought is that in real world, there will be very little difference between these two and AX86U will edge out both if you have a very large space but for the vast majority of people this router would be just as good as AX86U and RAX70. Considering it's from Costco and a return would be pretty easy, I might just try it out.

How about versus the TP-link AX5700 Mesh Wifi system? https://www.costco.com/tp-link-de...16151.html

I have the same issue. I have this router for less than 2 years and the range decreased by at least over 50%. I'm a room away from the router and I have 1-2 bars. The speed decreased by at least 200mbs. It's updated and been restarted also reset and no fix
Based on horrible reviews I got TP-Link Archer C4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router also on sale. I know it's not 6G but I installed it and getting 1gb on wire as is I should and 400 on wifi, the router CPU stays low now 10% my old router was 100% very often, I think it was one of the issues I had.

I would like to understand why someone should buy this over a mesh based solution like Deco 9 Plus or Google Wifi Mesh. Both these were cheaper in Costco by $30-$40. If anyone has a good idea of what make this better it would help since i recently got the Deco 9 Plus.

New Darth Vader prototype whip. Good news... it's 100% electric. Good for the planet before he wipes them out with the death star.

I have a RAX75. Terrible , terrible with their firmware update. I have to go back to an earlier version from 2019 to make it work stablely.

How are you liking the ASUS AX86U? I'm in the market for a new router and that one is on my short list.

I'm using this for a while now and seems to work well for me

That really doesn't say anything about the router being "horrible". What kind of client are you using? How close are you to the router? Are their any walls in between? What channel are you using? How much wifi interference do you have around the house?

R7000 is a model from 2013, which was not built for gigabit wireless and real life wifi max has been tested to be less than 450Mbps with the fastest compatible client in the same room within direct line of sight. 100Mbps is probably too low but not unrealistic unless you are pretty close to the router.

I am downstairs while the router (R7000) is upstairs in a room not directly above me and yet I got faster download speed (305Mbps) from my phone using the Ookla app than my actual internet speed (FIOS 200/200). Not everyone will see this kind of speed as my neighboring houses are about 100 ft apart which keeps the interference low. When I go to the patio or the furthest room in the basement, the signal is weak / speed is low and that's what I hope to improve with a new router as most of my client devices now support wifi 6. My R7000 has been rock solid for 7+ years though I run Merlin and not stock Netgear FW.
Where do I download the Merlin FW for the r7000? Ddwrt is normally pretty solid but even then i have issues. I'd like to try Merlin if it works well for you. Thank you

Is this a better deal from a dualband tp-link router (archer 74) for about 200? I have a 1 bedroom apartment, and I don't have issues currently.

Slickdeals finally solicited my advise on a techie matter. They emailed me to ask me "Does this play the Darth Vader theme when it connects to the internet"
