nowadays, Office Depot are marking thing higher than what their value is. Even is 100% back, but it will be more future use. Amazon is selling $16 for 72 with other brands for AA battery. If you have time can deal with office depot, sure. Otherwise, not worthy buying from them...
Nowadays? Where have you been?

They always have charged way over retail value for these.

The way to do this to your advantage is to:

Be a rewards member of course.
Spend $10 a month out of your pocket. This deal is a great opportunity to do that.
Recycle 10 ink cartridges that month which rewards you $20 to spend there later.
To cash rewards out, look for price matching opportunities. Guess what? You can do a PM for this deal also! The only benefit is less taxes out of your pocket but you will get less rewards, which is a good thing because that means less money tied up to use there.
Buy stamps with rewards about to expire as a last-ditch plan if you don't find anything you need that can be price matched for a reasonable price.
Another option is to look for sale items or clearance items while recycling and/or shopping in person or online.

This is the best possible use of your side-gig of OD/OM rewards. If you don't do these things, not much benefit, but still some.
See my signature. I hope this helps. I am here only to help give back some of the bounty I have been blessed to receive here. I am not sponsored or paid.

The Rewards are noted on the Rewards Exclusive Savings page: https://www.officedepot.com/cm/re...ve-savings

The Rewards might also be noted on the product page.

Basically:
Sign up for an OD account before purchasing the qualifying Rewards item(s).
Sign up for an OD Rewards account before purchasing the qualifying Rewards item(s).
Qualifying Rewards items are noted on the OD Rewards Exclusive Savings page: https://www.officedepot.com/cm/re...ve-savings
Select a qualifying Rewards item(s).
Pay for the purchase with a qualifying payment (not Rewards, not Merchandise cards)
"Reward certificates may be redeemed on purchases (excluding all gift and prepaid cards) at Office Depot or OfficeMax stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, online and by phone."
Bonus Rewards generally are made available within 1-3 days from date of purchase for in-store purchases and within 1-3 days from date of shipment for online orders. Online orders for in-store pickup are "shipped" on the day they are made available for pickup.

You may use it BUT you will only get whatever you pay out of pocket back in rewards.

So for example not including taxes or any other coupons:
Price= $20
Rewards -$5
You pay $15
Your reward will be $15.

Get something you will use like TP/ Paper Towels, pens, whatever by price matching to WM, Staples, Amazon...

Your purchase history (you can view online and store purchases in your online account) will show the rewards either pending or processed within a couple of days for these.

To guarantee they will pay it out (this is for the overachievers among us):
You could take a screenshot to prove the item shows it is one of the ones with the deal before buying online or in-store. And take a screenshot of the offer on the Rewards Offers page.
Follow up with them if they don't post.

This is very rarely an issue with OD/OM.
