you can, burn the wood and wait it be come charcoal (or better yet just use charcoal from start.)

if you put a raised grilling grate over it.

as with any BBQ you have to learn to control the heat (either by adjust height of grate or amount of charcoal spread). cookbased on the amount of heat and time.

start with something easy just get log roasting stick and put hotdogs or sausage on it.

I saw them in store for $20s a couple of weeks back. Along with a display unit. Do a favor to yourself and don't buy them. Legs are very flimsy, not stable at all. I was about to buy it till I saw the display unit. Check reviews, legs bend on heating.
I'm seeing $42. Where did you find such a good price?
Holy smokes! $9 at 45415 Dulles Crossing Plz, Sterling VA 20166 as per BS. 6+ in stock. Run!!!

I have the older model of this and quickly grew frustrated with how small it is. I'd recommend something bigger, but at any size, you won't come close to this price

100% agree. These cheap fire pits are more trouble than they are worth, unless you really take care of them. Then again, at this price, probably just a seasonal throwaway anyway!
