Just a heads up - this company does some major bait and switch. I got the Flume 1 and they have consistently removed features since launch, including the text alerts which were pretty critical as that was one of the only ways to setup multi device alerts.
Removed Brazilian Rainforest Store link per moderator's request - see reason below. Definitely don't go there directly and search, as it would circumvent any share paid back to the site owner.

Yes, but that deal can't be posted on SlickDeals because it's a 3rdparty seller with less than 1000 feedback. The rules don't allow those to be posted here, regardless of whether the seller is the manufacturer or not. I've been told by the moderation staff that the application of this rule is a a private matter and is not to be discussed in the Hot Deals forum, so if there is any concern about the rule, we should take it to Deal Talk or one of the appropriate forums.
I've had this for a few months now after dealing with some ridiculous high water bills.

It's a nice to have and is probably a savior to some, but I've soured a bit on the company after they've introduced this subscription plan. Allegedly, I'm grandfathered into their "detailed" data and AI stuff, but it's the same data that was available prior to their subscription model, so just an annoying money grab IMO.

Setup is surprisingly easy and is seemingly very accurate. Guess overall it's recommended if you're seriously worried about leaks, but you're going to get a lesser product than it was prior to the subscription, or pay more in their subscription to get access to their data metrics.

Did you find answer to your question? I am wondering same

This is BS. Slickdeals.net allows deals to be posted by sellers with 0 feedback as long as they pay them for sponsored placement by the deal bots. You can talk in a Deal Talk forum but that has the effect of hiding this chat which makes people think that the rule is fair.
That's the intent of the suggestion. And, no, I don't agree with it. I can see some value in not posting every random shill deal by a new 3rd party seller, but it's a ham-fisted rule imho - esp when it comes to the manufacturer. What's worse is that the app auto-posts are regularly utter trash, but they never get removed or even checked by the mod staff. I posted a deal the day before this Anycubic Mono+Cur/Wash2.0+2-500ml bottles of OEM resin for $298, but the Mono seller was a 3rd party with only a few feedback ratings. It arrived in 4 days and the setup is already on my printer bench waiting for final assy and tuning. ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ

Got mine installed, and I really like this device! Thanks to the OP. I had never heard of this type of device before.

I signed up for the annual Insight service too. I don't get these people calling it morally objectionable or a "money grab" for a company to ask the customer to pay for a service? Surely, as a cloud based application, they must have costs associated with providing that service?

Do i wish it was "free" (included in the purchase of the hardware) - sure I do. But I am willing to pay $4 month for the enhanced detail of the data. YMMV.

For those with smartthings, there is a 3rd party device handler that allows smartthings to use the flume usage alerts as a leak detector. I got the new Titan valve actuator from zooz which turns my shut off valve. Smartthings will turn off the water with the Titan if it has a leak from the flume or other moisture sensor. I accidentally tested it when running 2 showers and washing machine which triggered the high usage alert and worked well.
Do you know how the titan compares to the bulldog

I like how the titan has 2 mount points, but the bulldog seems to be fairly sturdy with just a single

Constant running water over hours are considered a leak by the app.

It's 100% a money grab, homie. It's the same data they've always had available. The only difference is they're attempted to spruce it up with their "AI" detection, which at it's current implementation questionably just categorizes indoor vs. outdoor water usage.

Otherwise, their subscription is just taking the raw data and giving you full access to read the data read by YOUR device YOU paid $120 for. I don't even mean to sound like a detractor of it as I'm an active user of it, but I'm just providing an FYI people that they're paying more for less. I definitely would NOT be a happy user for the product if I had to pay money to the rather basic information their subscription model provides.

Just would like to say at the end of the day this is a basic sensor that detects flow rate of your water meter. Something that even at $120 or its previous $170 price is more than reasonable just for the basic sensor hardware. Give me a break if you think "compiling" that raw data into various convenient formats if worthy of a subscription price.

Interferes in a good way or bad way?

My mother had an old "analog" (as in, dials like an old school odometer) water meter for years and they'd have to "honor system" record the number every quarter. Well, it broke and didn't move. After 3 or 4 months of trying to do the right thing and repeatedly tell the town that the meter was broken (and not that they hadn't been using ANY water at all), they just stopped and got free water for many years until the town did a town-wide upgrade to remote monitoring.

I believe they removed one of the two standard alerts late last month, for everyone, when they introduced their Flume Insight Subscription Service leaving only the standard alert that defaults to "Notify me if water is running constantly for 2 hours and 0 minutes". Unfortunately, this same alert also states "This rule is smart enough to filter out common events such as long lasting irrigation cycles", whatever that means. I wonder if it thought your leaking toilet was a long lasting irrigation cycle. Thankfully my Custom Alerts are still there. Oh, and for anyone who doesn't know yet, they axed SMS alerts in July.

Didn't have time to go throw the whole thread but just got an email from Flume that they are changing to a SUBSCRIPTION model to get any leak alerts and other data. Current owners are grandfathered in for some services it seems but new ones YMMV

It gets overwhelming. Every device wants their little subscription service:

Nest cameras, Garage door openers, alarm systems, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, YouTube Tv, Spotify, HBO Max, Disney +. Tesla Premium, cellular service, Xbox Gold, internet service. Last thing I need is another monthly bill for something as simple as this.

The 2 alert options I have in my app is "Water running constantly for 2 hours" and "5 gallon per minute flow for 5 minutes."

You can create your own alerts based on GPM and time.
