Even their new products work like trash and eat batteries for breakfast and totally unreliable so I would not touch these. .

Also some sort of extra protection had to be enabled within 30 day of adding the but you are never prompted - only find out if you happen to navigate around setting.

"Tiles must be registered for Basic Reimbursement within 30 days of activation."

https://tileteam.zendesk.com/hc/e...mbursement

They know you own the tile, should not need to add this extra hidden step.

Shady practices, shit products. Would not recommend.

You need to be in Apple ecosystem for the Air tag. No equivalent option for Android users.

I also wonder how these are legal if I can use to track my neighbors movements without his knowledge.
You can already do that with a SIM card and gps device in Ali express for less than $20

Tile makes inferior, non battery replaceable products that are overpriced and last a year. Then goes to Congress to complain Apple is manipulating the market.

Their app constantly reminds you to update to a new tile.

How could the battery possibly still be good on a 2016?
They have a plastic tab protecting the battery sensor so technically they haven't been used. Not sure what shelf life on those cr2032 batteries are like though

DIdn't have much luck with locating my keys even though it had the last location I lost my keys :/ maybe someone picked it up but it was never again detected. My buddy was lucky with his wallet once though.. so hit or miss on these things. Apple air tags def killed their market for apple users.

I'm pretty much over Apple's $$$ ecosystems, last iPad for me, gone to Android tablets, phones. The Apps, OS may not be as slick, but the price vs value, well Beta was better then VSH, but VSH won out. RISC was better then CISC, CISC won, again price vs value.

.
It's funny you say that because for a dollar per longevity standpoint, Apple beats Android. 5+ years of support for a $700 phone. Android doesn't even come close to that.

I go for rechargeable ones since I hate having to keep on buying coin cells and finding tiny screwdrivers to open up cases, have Nonda Aiko (now Nonda only has the Zus car key finder) and Pebblebee 2.0. The Aikos are microUSB, thin case that cracks, but very thin and flat, need recharging about monthly. Discontinued but you can find on eBay and other places, I got mine $40 for a 4 pack. Pebblebee I got $40 for a 3 pack at Costco.com last year. Thicker but much more sturdy than the Aiko, usb C. Maybe 1.5-2 months between charges.

Both android and iOS apps for both. Probably less adoption thus less useful for crowdsourced finding than the Apple tags, but finding your own stuff in house generally works fine.

Thanks for taking a moment to comment; I was going to grab a few but will now go for an alternative.

Is there one you recommend? I have epilepsy and as a result struggle with memory issues, ie I lose various small items multiple times in a single day. Hoping these gadgets help.

Awesomely detailed response, thank you! Can I ask what the connections are like for both? Accurate? also, is one better than the other as far as accuracy?

I have the samsung tag. Works great. Have 1 on my keys. Also can set up an action to trigger (i have it set to make my phone ring). Samsung 4 pack and apple 4 pack are about 100$. I think it's worth looking into those as better alternatives to tile. It cost more but it's important that it works well when you need it

Which of their devices costs that amount?

Last time I bought the tile mate 4 pack, 3 out of 4 worked stopped connecting to my phone shortly after a year, which meant they were out of warranty window. Replaced the batterys yet they still reported as offline and would not pair again with the app. Tile refused to provide any support for the tiles outside of "replace the battery" and "hold the sync button for 10 secs to reboot". Then told me, "sorry, out of warranty". Hard to believe the tile mate, which has a replaceable battery would completely stop working after a year, but it did.. 3 out of 4 did. They barely worked at all for locating my keys while in the house. I'd have 0% confidence of finding a bag lost with a tile attached. Do not recommend.

With Apple releasing their AirTags. I can already see Tile bankruptcy in the future. I wouldn't be surprised if Google bought out Tile to start developing their own AirTag.
I have both. Tile PRO is way better than Air tag for pet tracking. Sometimes my pet is nearby and Air tag does not detect it, unless is really close. Apple air tag only can be tracked from one phone.. while Tile can be tracked form at least 2 phones. Just my 2 cents.
