For real, is this water proof/resistant. I read the product page on REI but it didn't mention it?

Based on that and the appearance of the zippers (exposed, doesn't look like a particularly water resistant variety), I'd strongly lean towards no

Years ago ive read and hear great things about MHW...I hated having similar product as the next person and fel that every regular non outdoor people were wearing northface/patahonia and had Osprey backpacks...I've spent around $5k on their products from tents and backpacks to clothings. I would say i had more badly designed products and bad choice of materials than good ones. Their "life time" warranty has lots of *...my feelong its becauae rhey were boight out by Columbia. Their products are not the top shelve stuff in terms of material or design. My favorite product was a foam trucker hat style that my dog chewed up...only be cause i like the art work on it lol.

As a outdoor stuff buyer for business, most products are mainly rely on marketing instead of comparable better quality. Even market sentiment review is a business that you should not completely trust. You could get less wrong if you buy key product lines that last generations.
