Don't buy this until/unless he releases the third book. Rothfuss should be starving right now. That would get his creative juices flowing again.

BTW, great read.

Wonderful book with great world building and plot/character development. Picked up the kindle edition just because it's so cheap

Just want to echo this, while it is a good book, I can't recommend that you start reading it as it doesn't look like the third book is coming out anytime soon and there are many other completed series that you should read instead.

Agreed. People also made way too many excuses for him over the years. I recall him having a contest on his site when the 2nd book came out. Took YEARS for him to pick the winners, but every couple days he'd post tons of shit about the worldbuilders group fundraising, he just doesn't care. He lies to his fans constantly and they defend the hell out of him.

Great book, however.

I read the first line of your comment to my wife, and she guessed that you were describing Rothfuss. We agree, excellent book... But don't bother until the 3rd book comes out.

This is one of my all time favorite books. However, this guy is right, do not buy it.

His own publisher threw him under the bus saying he hasn't written anything since 2014. Don't buy it or he will never finish the trilogy.

That said, his first 2 books are magnificent if he can figure out how to end it.

Brandon Sanderson, on the other hand, is some sort of fantasy writing god who we are blessed to have living in our lifetime. If you have money to spend on fantasy books, i highly recommend buying his books instead. Not only did the guy finish the greatest epic fantasy series ever written for us after it's author died, he's given us some of the best fantasy and worldbuilding ever written IMO. He also pumps it out like a machine.

He sounds like the fantasy John Scalzi.

Any recommendations on a completed series?

Ok, he lives in my town and I see him out and about with his kids. He's had some major life changes lately. I know it's hard to understand but please cut him some slack.

Briank642: The mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson is a completed series and was was very good.

I believe Ruthfuss has written the third book, but isn't happy with it. I can understand not wanting to release garbage and having writer's block, but if we see an HBO series come out before the third book, then we'll really see some howling from his fans.

Mistborn is literally the only fantasy series that I've read. Very much enjoyed it.

All of planet Earth has had some major life changes lately. 18 months plus to be precise.

I've seen videos with his comments the last couple of years where he has discussed his writing progress. . I'll echo what's already been stated: He's lying to, and manipulating, his own fans.

Edit: I'd add Joe Abercrombie to authors who hasn't left his fans dangling.
