FYI: these are not Borosilicate glass. For those who do not know: when the logo is in lowercase lettering, it is Soda-lime glass. When in UPPERCASE i.e. 'PYREX', it is Borosilicate glass. Zoom in on the lids, these are lowercase.

Borosilicate glass doesn't shatter with extreme temperature change. With things like coffee cups or teapots it's pretty important. Not so much w/ these as long as you aren't pouring boiling items into them, putting frozen dishes into a hot oven, or throwing them into ice water out the oven.

I've had a soda-lime set for years that I use for baking/cooking/storage, and haven't broke one yet.

Do you know a way to determine the kind of glass when buying Anchor Hocking (it's a competitor brand to Pyrex)?

Any "pyrex' made in the USA in the last 20 years is soda lime. It's also probably just fine for storing and microwaving food.

IMO, round containers take up too much space in the refrigerator and cupboards. Good deal if you don't mind round and have the space.

The lids absolutely suck on these. Hand wash only. Don't listen to the dishwasher safe claim. The lids will start to break apart after a while. Bowls themselves are great.

Bought the same set a while back and they been holding up great! Did accidently break one when I put it on the counter a little too hard, it kinda exploded on me lol but didn't even know about the glass difference. Overall, they been holding up perfectly great! And I did have a couple of lids start to rip (which is disappointing since Pyrex used to have the best lids in the past) but for the price, can't really complain all that much.

Also there was a mail-in-rebate when I bought em a couple of yrs back if I recall correctly. Worth checking Macy's site about rebates
