Best thing about these is no monthly subscription. Who cares is you get 50% off on the initial purchase if you end up paying $250/ year forever, just to use the device.
I've used these for several months, what I have noticed is that when someone walks directly strait towards the camera it sometimes is slow to trigger and triggers when the subject moves side to side.
My walkway is curved and requires you to walk side to side so it doesnt miss anything, however, I have one on my garage door entrance and it has a walkway straight towards the door and if you walk straight towards it detection triggers as soon as I turn to walk into the garage.
Not an issue really for me, but for some, I suspect the motion detection might not work.
If you're relying on these as a security solution to monitor the front of your house, you're doing it wrong. Buy a camera and not a doorbell.
If you want a door bell to monitor packages sitting on your porch and people coming to visit, these will work great.
My battery on the front of my house lasts for about 70 days before needing to be charged (7-15) triggers daily of about 15 seconds), the battery on my garage still has not been charged and its been over 150 days. (Triggers 2-3 times daily)
The video quality is great, the audio is clear, and the alerts are immediate.

The video doorbell plus homebase occasionally go on sale for $150.
Yes, historically the doorbell+homebase has gone on sale for $150 or even as low as $140 at one point. If you do not have a homebase you may want to hold out until that bundle goes on sale or consider another bundle with a homebase.
Seems like every time these get posted folks complain about detection rates being poor and them overall being buggy it seems. Has that improved at all?

No. Detection is awful. No matter the setting it misses humans. Good at detecting hubcaps and swaying trees if you turn the sensitivity way up.

Zero issues with mine, works as I expect it should.

I can't speak for others but the one I purchased has no problems. Easy to install, comes with extension wires if you don't want to do the battery. And it detects people every time that I know of.

In my experience this wasn't the case. The doorbell was connected to existing doorbell power not battery and I had my base hardwired to the router with it set about 15 feet away from the doorbell. I did have to adjust the sensitivity, but it wasn't a huge effort to get what I needed. I'm happy with the unit and the eufy 2C add on cameras
