The Ergo 4000 has been my go-to for seven years. I had telepathic command of all of its keys. However, when I "upgraded" to the newer ergonomic keyboard, I didnt have this command anymore. It is hard to explain...the key travel is a bit more shallow, and the taper of the keys from the top of the keyboard to the bottom is smoother and less punctuated. Imagine stairsteps which have a larger height difference between each step vs a ramp. I prefer the former. I ended up returning the newer KB and am still using the 4000. It isnt technically broken, but it is *very* worn out.
Ironically, the MS sculpt has even less key travel, but yet I adapted to it well, but not so with the new ergo. However, the sculpt doesnt have a number pad, which is a huge no-no for my work. So I ended up returning it as well.
Tl;dr - go try the new one out and form your own opinion. Comfort is very subjective.

Some Best Buy reviews say it has a smaller footprint and no gap between number row and function keys.

For $30 it's an excellent keyboard for someone who is typing all day who doesn't mind a membrane keyboard.
I found the keys had a mushier feel to my 4000.
I sent it back.

I bought this at nearly full price when wired ergonomic keyboards were sparsely available and overall enjoy it, and I noticed the comments on the Menu key, but that has been my biggest gripe that I'm still trying to adjust to after 9+ months of use.
The Delete key above the Backspace also gets annoying without the gap in between.
For $30 though, it's a steal and definitely worth buying a second.
