I recommend giving the newer keyboard a physical test-drive at a store or just be prepared to exercise the return option.

The Ergo 4000 has been my go-to for seven years. I had telepathic command of all of its keys. However, when I "upgraded" to the newer ergonomic keyboard, I didnt have this command anymore. It is hard to explain...the key travel is a bit more shallow, and the taper of the keys from the top of the keyboard to the bottom is smoother and less punctuated. Imagine stairsteps which have a larger height difference between each step vs a ramp. I prefer the former. I ended up returning the newer KB and am still using the 4000. It isnt technically broken, but it is *very* worn out.

Ironically, the MS sculpt has even less key travel, but yet I adapted to it well, but not so with the new ergo. However, the sculpt doesnt have a number pad, which is a huge no-no for my work. So I ended up returning it as well.

Tl;dr - go try the new one out and form your own opinion. Comfort is very subjective.

Good deal. Great keyboard and very comfy. Only negative is being wired. If only this is wireless.

Be aware that this one has a "Delete" key ABOVE the "Backspace" key on top right before the gap to the row of function keys. If you are used to feeling for the gap and hitting the top-right key for "Backspace", this could throw you off. 😊

I ordered one. I currently use the Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Desktop USB Port Keyboard and Mouse Combo. I absolutely love. I'll keep the Microsoft Ergonomic Wired Keyboard as a backup.

Worth upgrading from the MS Ergo 4000? Looks very similar so I assume not.

Some Best Buy reviews say it has a smaller footprint and no gap between number row and function keys.

Keep the 400 if you have one! This has some stupid keys (emoji, some stupid box one) that just suck to have. But I got used to it. So if you have no alternative, go with this.

Anyone knows how this compares to Logitech K350 please. Is the Logitech worth $7 more for being wireless or does the MS have better ergonomics?

for starters, that keyboard isnt ergo at all; so yes the MS one has better ergonomics

I have the wireless version of this and the matching ergonomic mouse. It's a great set and very easy on the wrists and joints. Highly recommend it!

It seems like it would be uncomfortable to use though

I bought like 10 of the 400's awhile back on sale, so I'll have that model for awhile. I assumed they would stop making them as many people seem to dislike the split ergo style. Guess I was incorrect!

I'm using this keyboard at work. The ergonomics are excellent. It is incredibly comfortable. I can't stand how mushy the keys are though. The remapping software is a must, as the context menu key next to the start key will screw you up.

For $30 it's an excellent keyboard for someone who is typing all day who doesn't mind a membrane keyboard.

You guys are talking like the Microsoft Ergo 4000 is officially discontinued, is that the case? I thought I saw them being sold not terribly long ago.

I tried one of these a few months ago,.
I found the keys had a mushier feel to my 4000.
I sent it back.

Surprised no one has commented on the worst difference in this keyboard, which is the annoying menu key between the Left Ctrl and Windows keys.

I bought this at nearly full price when wired ergonomic keyboards were sparsely available and overall enjoy it, and I noticed the comments on the Menu key, but that has been my biggest gripe that I'm still trying to adjust to after 9+ months of use.

The Delete key above the Backspace also gets annoying without the gap in between.

For $30 though, it's a steal and definitely worth buying a second.
