Seems to be about the "right" price for the specs. The noteworthy feature here is the larger 14" 1080p screen... though you do have to forgo a touchscreen to gain that real estate. I'd argue that the MediaTek Chromebooks do best as Android app delivery devices, so losing a touch screen might be a compromise too far. Of course, this likely makes a fine laptop for grade school academics assuming your school is in the Chromebook ecosystem.

My threshold right now for a slick deal would incorporate an Intel CPU and a touch screen (even possibly accepting 1366x768) at something just under this price point.

Good luck!

Touch screen version is $20 more. Looks like all other specs are identical.

I've been using essentially the 11" version of this Chromebook for the last two years. Same processor, 1080p resolution and 4GB of RAM. It works perfectly well.

Everyone keeps saying the benchmark score is slow and bla, blah, blah, but it does exactly what you'd expect a Chromebook to do without missing a beat. I routinely have 10+ tabs open.

I even enabled Linux apps and use GnuCash, frequently. It has no problem keeping up. It's a little slow starting, but I think that has more to do with getting the VM started than anything else. WSL2 on Windows also takes a few seconds to start up.

Build quality is also a lot better than the Samsung Chromebook 3 that this replaced.

I highly recommend this model for anyone looking for a Chromebook.

I'd pass on this one because of the mediatek 8183. Octane scores are around 10,000 which will be pretty slow even in a Chromebook. 14" models with 1080 screens and N4020 processors will show up on slickdeals in the near future. Picked up an HP 14" with an N4020 last November for $149.00 at Bestbuy.

Very tempting, as my R11 touch screen is starting to poop out... though this may be a software issue driven by recent ChromeOS updates (so I'm hopeful the issue might disappear soon).

Good luck!

I just picked up a Lenovo Flex 5 with similar specs for $270, Pentium Gold 7505, 4GB, 32GB SSD, 14" 1080p but with touch screen. I'm not sure how this compares but the Flex 5 build quality and screen quality is incredible for the money. If I had paid triple the price the build quality would not be out of place. On the other hand, many of the Chromebook s I've tried had crap build quality and screens. I'd build quality and screen quality here is similar than this is a solid deal. Unsure if the above are true, though they're both Lenovo.

I thought the Flex 5 had hinge issues/breaking? Or was that exaggerated or fixed?

Bought the same one a couple of weeks ago. I was hesitant due to only 32g storage and 4g ram... But its great for watching movies and the form factor is awesome

The Lenovo C340 convertible for $149.00 at Wally might be a good replacement for your R11 convertable. Really like the one I just picked up with a N4000. The only thing I'm not crazy about are the long travel keys but I seem to be getting used to them.

apparently the touch screen version is also brighter. 300 nits vs 200 nits on the non touch screen

I had to use the app because half of the page wouldn't load on the browser.

This is a crappy processor which won't handle anything beyond web browsing. If web browsing is the only thing you want to do, it maybe ok, but IMHO you want a better processor so you don't feel the need to upgrade in next year… like someone above mentioned, you could go with a cheap windows laptop or even chromebook with an Intel or AMD processor and it would work better.
Even a used old laptop with an i3 4th generation (almost 8 yrs old ) and will perform better
