I would still take the opinion of a vet over someone with no knowledge of animal health at all.

The WSAVA guidelines for brands include things like "Do they employ a nutritionist". Purina passes the test, but Blue Buffalo and similar brands do not.
What is your brand of choice? And are they on the WSAVA approved list?
Thanks OP, these are great snacks for when kids come home from school
They are added micronutrients that your cat would get sick without. Read the ingredients list on a box of cereal, it will look very similar, because it also has added micronutrients. You shouldn't be scared of words you don't understand.

Yes, but not all varieties. None are below average, but there are several above average.

My first pet is a 7 month old cat (or kitten?). Is it ok to feed this to him?
No. Should be on kitten food until 1 year old.

Going to give it a try. My picky cat won't even eat her favorite Fancy Feast chicken trays anymore. I trust the Tufts experts saying that cats can easily digest and gain nutrients from whole grains more than I trust some random guy on SD saying they can't.
Tufts receives $$$ from the industry (Hill's and Purina). So is beholden to them. https://vetmed.tufts.edu/tufts-at-tech/donors/

Tufts nutritionist tells consumers not to read labels: https://truthaboutpetfood.com/doe...niversity/

Instinct or Tiki. For grocery store fare, Crave.
Or any on the "best" lists: https://catfooddb.com/

Wet is always better than dry because some cats don't drink enough water when on dry, which can lead to kidney disease. Dry is OK if it's fed sometimes but not as a main food.
TIKI gave my dog, and both of my cats diarrhea. It was the worst food I have ever given my pets. I would have thought a one off if it was just one animal, but all 3? Nope.

The way you are presenting what she said and the spirit of what she said are not the same. You are just so certain you are an expert on this topic and that all of veterinary medicine is a big pet food money making conspiracy. That's farking ridiculous dude. Why do you think people want to be vets? To lie to their patients and make them die faster so that OTHER PEOPLE make money? Please try using critical thinking skills.

I am a foster for the region's largest shelter. Many on the Facebook group swear by the stuff. I guess you just didn't get lucky.

Many foods for adults are "All stages" and are perfectly fine for a kitten. So kitten and all stages food are enough for a growing kitten.

Any recommended cat food for a kidney stone? Not for me, my cat... My vet is recommending a science diet Rx food and that's what I'm using but wondered if there were any other recommended types?
If you are interested and use facebook, there is a group called "Feline Nutrition." I've seen people ask questions about that.

That's also a great place to learn more about cat nutrition and they have a lot of helpful resources and information. There are also really helpful lists of high protein, low carb food, with specific brands and flavors that fit into their guidelines.

First thing: run the food through CatFoodDB to see if it's any good. Many vets sell Science Diet (Colgate-Palmolive) exclusively, so make profits on it whether or not it's a good food. And many other clinics are actually owned by the same companies making the food they recommend; e.g. Banfield and Royal Canin are owned by Mars. Other vets have been assimilated since university when given huge discounts on food and/or the schools receiving massive donations from these companies.

My (former) vet prescribed a Royal Canin RX diet for my cat that HAD NO MEAT in it. The cat was dead in 2 months.

The pet food industry is full of lies, deceit and land mines. Takes a lot of research.
