No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Costco usually does not cause much fuss u less it's a tv or computer. You will gain the benefit of hooking a ps5 Xbox up to the AVR instead of going to the TV first. Side note the CX can't read or pass a DTS signal, so that is a benefit even if you don't have a newer console. Another benefit would be hdr10+ passthrough that the 750h cannot. In short it will allow you to plug current and future devices to your AVR directly without connecting them directly to the CX.
HDR10+ doesn't matter when your TV has Dolby Vision which the LG OLED CX does. The CX doesn't do HDR10+ anyway. That's more of a Samsung thing since they don't support Dolby Vision on their TV's.

Your other points are well made.

You can get a crossover circuit for $15 at the low end, significantly cheaper than a standalone amp.
Yes, but you'll need a much more expensive AVR that puts out a true 100W+ to drive a sub on the main channels. If you're just getting a simple two way crossover, you'd better have a truly high power receiver to power a sub and a satellite speaker off one channel.

Stop trying to suggest a mickey mouse job. Best option is to get the lowest cost AVR that has all the features you need and an external amp if you want to keep using the passive subs. If not, ditch the passive subs and put the money allocated for an external amp and get a better active/powered sub.

Is it worth to upgrade from Pioneer sc-1223k to this receiver since the Pioneer doesn't support hdcp 2.3.
No, if you already have good speakers. It is worth if you upgrade to Denon AVR-X4700H, which is $2,000 and in stock. Maybe the 3700H will also suffice, depends what speakers you have. Or, 3700H + good amps + good speakers, but things get expensive rather quickly.
I had old Denon series 4 which I replaced with Pioneer SC-1523 from Costco 5-6 years ago. That was a deal. Immediately could feel the difference in power.

Instead of an entry level receiver + entry level speakers you can get a nice soundbar, have a much simple setup and similar sound stage - it'll cost you around $500. Slightly better sound quality can be done with this S760H + Klipsch speakers setup from Costco, and it'll cost you around $1500 total.

Thanks! I have a few different setups between houses and my GFs place. Yada yada. Amazon prime uses hdr10+ as do some not so official steaming sources. The 750 could not read and send that data from a firestick/device to the TV, but the 760 can. Unless I'm missing something? Very possible I am.

Amazon prime also supports Dolby Vision. Pretty much only Samsung supports HDR10+, so Amazon would be foolish to only support HDR10+ and not Dolby Vision.

I just checked that and they only support Dolby vision for a few shows. But hdr10/+ for many many more. Note sure if I can post links here but here goes... Also if you read the comments there a few said Amazon dropped Dolbyvision all together. **edit*z confirmed on second link below

Grr that link won't post. Google it. Amazon is done with Dolbyvision and Atmos it appears.

If I understand correctly hdr10 is what everything supports and is a one time adjustment per show. DV and HDR10+ are upgraded versions and are scene by scene. DV being proprietary and HDR10+ being open source. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

To this point (external amp) does this AVR have pre-outs that allow for an external amp?

Refurb 960 model for $550 @accessories4less. I've bought probably half a dozen refurb Denon receivers from them and never have an issue.

X1400 has a lot of power (145 W!!). Do you have speaker setup that will use that kind of power? Yes, It has the step up from the basic audyssey but not the night and day difference which the XT32 version provides in the high end models. Also you are stepping back to 2017 tech. At the end it all depends on your budget and the exact use case.
No speakers yet but 250+ difference between X1400 and this, I can invest for a 3.1 (later to 5.1.2)set up and of course the wife factor rating is higher. My sweet spot would have be XT32
