No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).

Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item

That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Does Costco take returns without a box? I threw away the box for my TSR-700 a long time ago.
As long as all the wires and main parts are there. They don't care about tiny things, but as long as receiver, control etc. are there.

Let me simplify the evaluation of returning a perfectly good product 5 months later to exchange it for a newer model.

Rule 1) Don't be a Dick
Rule 2) If the people you are doing it to (Costco) would think you are being a Dick then you are being a Dick
Rule 3) If you have to justify why you are not actually being a Dick... You are being a Dick.
Rule 4) If doing it to your neighbor would qualify you as a Dick, then doing it to Costco is being a Dick.
I agree with everything above as long as you are talking about people who are returning the Denon AVR-S750H. If you are referring to anyone who purchased the Yamaha TSR-700, it's not even a halfway good product, much less a perfectly good product. It's riddled with bugs that Yamaha has promised to fix with firmware updates yet still hasn't resolved the problems.

I apologize for the very dumb question I'm about to ask. Given that this AVR can handle VRR, does that mean it can pass it through to a TV like the Sony A80J that does not have VRR compatibility (yet) or would it require a TV like the LG C1 that already has VRR?

Not a dumb question, but correct, if your set doesn't support VRR it will not use it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured that was the case, but I wasn't sure if the AVR was doing any sort of processing before it sent the signal to the TV. Guess I'll just have to hope Sony gets it together and eventually includes VRR compatibility in a firmware update in the future.

I'm kinda surprised the OLEDs don't support it, the x90j and the j series still don't have it either in LED. Not sure why they haven't been able to get it working, but hopefully it gets implemented soon for you!

And I have an old (8+ years) Pioneer Elite VSX-42 and happy with it, although, have been looking to upgrade. I have heard from few that Yamaha sounds much better and hoping they will bring a new receiver (with bug fixed they had last year). When I upgrade, I want to setup Dolby Atom as well, so just being patient and waiting for the right receiver.

Appears it might be happening sooner than I expected. Sony is rolling out the VRR and ALLM firmware updates for the X900H in China according to this video from yesterday: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTxQ4cia8-E

If no one has mentioned this, I believe you can call or go to the customer support desk and they'll give you a price adjustment. Worth a shot IMO

Picked one up. Plenty in stock in Strongsville Ohio.
I have been waiting for over a year now for something that would be compatible with the new series x/PS5. It's a real problem to not have enough HDMI inputs!

So I got this receiver, 7 yamaha nsic800wh in-ceiling speakers, epson projector and a SVS subwoofer. My setup should work fine, right? Please advise. Thanks

Should work fine but with 7 in ceiling speakers Atmos won't give you much. With all ceiling speakers the advantage of Dolby Atmos will be lost. If you had 5 speakers at ear level and 2 Atmos speakers above you'd be better off.

But I'm pretty sure it'll still sound good overall with your setup.
