Check out thingiverse.com. You will find things you didn't know you needed

Downsides of this versus something more expensive?
Here are some points

- I don't think there is a tinker free 3D printer yet but the cheaper ones might require more tinkering to get them going. This is something you might like and I'll teach you more about your printer and 3D printing in general but not for everyone a some might want the least amount of tinkering.

- more expensive printers might have better components versus this one you might reach it's limits and keep upgrading. That goes back to the first point of tinkering

- more expensive printers might offer specific benefits (depending on which one). For example: bigger build plate, quieter noise, etc

For a first printer this should be more than sufficient

Everyone is different but the best way for me to learn is to do. If you are anything like me I would say start with buying a cheap printer. Then go to thingiverse.com and search for random stuff to print. Once you learn printing others designs start designing yourself. There are a couple of design tools you can use for free fusion360 is what most use because it has been free for a while and SOLIDWORKS which is what I use and it just became free for makers. Both of those tools are professional grade but they are fairly self explanatory to start and create simple designs.

Good luck

Printers good. Firmware is pretty ass. Support by the company sucks too. You can get good prints out of this printer, but you will spend 10-20 hours getting there. Also you are going to want to spend another $100 or so to get a octoprint running, and a bltouch leveling probe installed. The BLTouch firmware supplied by Ender never worked properly. I had to flash a custom marlin firmware I built. If you don't have octoprint you have to manually plug in a micro sd card with every file you want to print. The default prints look good. Getting it to work well with cura is kinda a pain. You will spend 5~ hours or so to get it in good shape. Take around an hour~ to build.

Make sure to print stuff like the filament wheel (that helps the filament feed), required a ball bearing. Also the tool holder is nice, as well as pi camera holder which you can integrate into octoprint so you can see your prints while they print without physically looking at the printer. If you are not technically inclined, go with another printer that works out of box. Some printers come fully assembled and already calibrated. If you don't have a programming background, 3d printing will be hard unless you are just printing something someone else has already created. Often things people have designed need to be modified to meet your needs.

TLDR: Good 3dprinter, bad firmware, takes time and effort, this printer is basically taking on a whole hobby just to get it working properly. If you want plug and play, this is not the printer for you.
Does this model come with a boot loader installed on it now ?
I have seen videos of people using an Arduino to bit bang a boot loader so that they could update the FW .
And what FW comes on this printer stock and does it support the creality bed level probe?
I got this last time they had the deal but had to pay someone $10 for the coupon ,guess I should have just waited
Also when I was looking at this in the store the associate who came over to help me immediately asked if I had a coupon when I asked for this printer ,I said yes ,but now I am wondering if I said no if he was going to offer me one
Anyways I just don't have the time or room to set this up right now

But I am wondering if I go into microcenter and buy the creality bed level probe
Will it be plug and play ,will it have the grid leveling option and the Z calibration wizard(I heard something about a wizard to calibrate the Z offset in some versions of marlin)
This is my first 3d printer ,I knew just about nothing about 3D printing or this machine but I have since been watching lots of videos on this machine and 3D printing in general but I won't get around to setting this up for awhile

So you said you had to "build" your version of Marlin ,is it a version of Marlin that comes preinstalled on this printer ? The videos I watched about needing to bit bang the bootloader with an Arduino are a few years old now so I'm not sure if that part has changed or not but could you just download the custom version of marlin you are using and flash it ? and Why exactly did you Have to build it/compile it yourself?

And lastly if I buy the creality ABL probe from microcenter and I bring in my assembled printer do they offer free support for calibrating it in store
Or do they have any 3D printing workshops or something ,maybe that varies by store
My store is the Cambridge store ,right near MIT so maybe mine does
They have lots of printers on display there
Usually in the process of printing out something whenever I go there and some really nice quality finished prints on display so someone there knows what they are doing

Last time these were on sale they were allowing online reservations and that guaranteed you'd get one. I've watched the stock levels since they and they've been all over, but they are definitely high on stock this round. All local stores are saying 25+ and I bet they actually have them in stock. Worth the trip with the coupon especially if Micro Center isn't too far from you.

This printer is amazing at this price point. Nearly all 3D printers need tinkering, even the more expensive ones. May as well start with a machine like this to see how you like the hobby. I must warn you all, it is addicting.
Would you mind giving me an idea what types of things you print?

I thought getting mine for $200 was a great deal, dang.

Like others said, this is equivalent to buying a starter electric guitar or something: you're getting this to start a hobby, to learn and struggle a fair bit on the way.

I've had mine several years now, and have loved it, and also stayed up until 2am angrily replacing nozzles and scraping the bed. But still love it.

If you can get this, I really, REALLY recommend replacing the main board with a $40 upgraded one from Amazon. It makes printing essentially silent! And also a glass bed is nice, since it improves the print adhesion.

This is so tempting. I was seriously considering getting an E3 v2 in the next few weeks as my entry into the world of 3D printing, however, at this price point, the pro doesn't seem bad. I have watched few YouTube videos highlighting the differences between the two. Many of them recommended v2 because the price difference was only $30 ~ $40 depending on when the review was done. Now the price difference (with this MC deal) is over $100 - closer to $140 (since the lowest price on v2 currently is about $235 +/-). This price delta between the two creates a more challenging decision. I appreciate any thoughts from E3 owners. Thanks.

i just watched a video on this. And that makes sense. 8 bit vs 32 bit. In addition to replacing the board (not a big deal), one needs to update the firmware and potentially re calibrate axis.

Any suggestion for a plug and play entry level printer?
