You sound like you are having insomnia due to the worry of the $50 credit from Citi and have been flooding this thread by spreading incorrect info. There is nowhere in the terms saying purchasing third party GCs will invalidate the offer. Please, go call Citi for your $50 if you worry too much about the mere $50.
Terms Of Use
Not valid on Best Buy Gift Card purchases. Offer not valid at outlet locations. Excludes Best Buy Express, Geek Squad services purchased outside of Best Buy, Best Buy Parts Store, Best Buy Direct, Best Buy Secondary Markets, Best Buy Private Store & Auction, and Pacific Sales Kitchen & Home locations outside of Best Buy stores. Offer is non-transferable.

Because as per Terms and Conditions "Gift cards" are EXCLUDED from the offer.
It seems like some of the initial folks lucked out purchasing Amazon GCs.
Citi seems to have now closed the loophole and people are only getting a $50 credit if they purchased Merchandise and not gift cards.
The GCs that are excluded are the BestBuy gift cards, which are not handled by Best Buy if I remember correctly. All the others should be fine, as others mentioned here. Honestly, I don't even know if CITI has the ability to discern if the purchase was for a GC or a merchandise. Certainly not the case for other CB offers from Amex, Chase, etc.

Not bad for my first Citi deal https://imgur.com/a/TzcS5vw
You can buy other third party gift card on amazon with amazon gift card. I bought safeway gift card for grocery. Not too bad even if citi not honor $50.
Citi launched a new program called Citi Merchant Offers that will provide customers with targeted merchant-specific offers in partnership with Mastercard (MC).
Currently, MC has an existing program to negotiate offers with a number of merchants in order to provide discounts and credits for purchases that meet spend, visits, frequency, etc. These offers will give customer credits for spending money at specific merchants either in-store or online.
This explains why Citi Costco card which is VISA card not to have these merchant offers. Thanks
There is also an AT&T offer. I don't know if it works on accessories because Chase AT&T works on accessories even it mentions to use on wireless.

Maybe this post deserved its own thread instead of buried in the Best Buy thread... but I made a $60+ payment to my AT&T Premier account and got the $100 credit. Transaction posted as "AT&T PREMIER EBILL" on 10/4, Merchant Offers Credit posted on 10/11.
I definitely had this offer on my TYP Card ($50 off $200) and it disappeared.
It was definitely missing for a few days, but it showed up again. I enrolled and bought the Xbox Series X 1TB Expansion Card for $220. Will report back on offer.

Thanks for the information (repped).
Looks like it may not work on accessories since the Marchant name is different. Anybody wants to try?
