I'm not even going to bother with the litany of misinformation in your post, I'll just point out that if you use Overdrive to borrow Kindle books from the library (for free) and download the files from Amazon to your computer to transfer over USB that once the loan period from the library has ended and the books are removed from your device you can just copy the files back over USB and keep reading them forever.

I don't think they make much of anything on these e-readers. Amazon makes their money on selling the Kindle books, since they get a large cut of each sale.

They actually have a unique email identifier so you can send specific file types straight to it from your computer without a wired connection!

The weight difference is miniscule. 182 grams (Paperwhite) vs. 174 grams (standard). Some people just want to nitpick for the sake of it.

Thanks OP. Dont need one, but $30 is too tempting to pass. Decided to deselect Kindle Unlimited as I tried it earlier this year and was thoroughly unimpressed - and opted to NOT have it delivered pre-linked to my account so I can either link it to my primary account OR give it away as a gift, depending on my mood.

Kinda sucks because those who bought it a couple of weeks ago could have bought it today with 4 times the memory space. As the 32gb option is available for 45 dollars.

They are on lock screen, but you can always chat with Amazon customer care to remove them for free (I think there is even a setting on the device page now but that is the method I used)
