A "qualifying purchase" is a purchase transaction that is made after you activate the offer, meets the minimum purchase threshold and excludes all items that do not earn regular Target Circle 1% Earnings rewards. Purchases made with a credit or debit RedCard™ are eligible for these offers. A pre-ordered item is eligible if it is shipped during the offer period. Online, Same Day Delivery, Order Pickup and Drive Up purchases are eligible when the order is placed within the offer period. The minimum purchase threshold is calculated before other offers, discounts (other than sale prices) and taxes are applied. An online order qualifies as one purchase transaction even if items in the order are delivered or picked up separately. An online order that has both Target Plus™ items and Target.com items qualifies as two separate purchase transactions. An online order that uses the Same Day Delivery service, the Same Day Delivery items qualify as a separate purchase transaction. Purchases that are returned, reversed or cancelled may cause the purchase transaction to no longer qualify for these offers or may result in the Target Circle Bonus reward being removed from your Target Circle Earnings reward.

Can you use Target Circle earnings towards third party gift cards?
Despite saying it excludes gift cards and prepaid cards, in the past Apple gift cards have triggered the spend bonus. I always add one as a filler to get my to the spend threshold as my usual Target grocery run is about $30.
Between these spend promos and the buy 100 Apple GC get 10 Target GC, and the RedCard 5%, I get a good little stash of discounted GCs to pay for the new iPhone.

not to mention I hate how we have to spend more than $50 more than twice, it's hard to find anything i need to buy~ lol

(I'm guessing Target's computer analysis saw that I've bought a few thousand worth in the last few months… and didn't do a deep enough analysis such that it saw that almost all those purchases were Apple gift cards…)
