I have this. Bought when it was $2 after a coupon price mistake.

In full sun it charges at over 5 watts in San Francisco CA, but I never got a full 10. But that's to be expected, it's hard to get ideal perfect conditions.

For $12 I don't think you can get a better solar panel. Other comparable ones are $30-50 on Amazon.

Note that if you get cloud temporarily passing over, it may cause the charging to drop and stay very weak. This is due to your device thinking the charger can't provide enough power so the device requests less and never requests more until you unplug and replug.

I may recommend a USB power meter to see how fast it's charging. For a cheap Chinese one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Current-Voltage-Capacity-Tester-USB-Volt-Power-Bank-Capacity-Doctor-Mete-TO-f-/402851446825?

This 5w Renogy panel in average sunlight in my area will charge a 5,000 mah battery in about 8 hours. It charges the battery bank apx 1% every 5 minutes and appears to have the same output as my Goal Zero folding 7w panel that weights 16.3 ounces. Saving about 10 ounces, a bit of bulk and being about $100 cheaper the Renogy 5w will be my new backpacking solar panel. I tried the cheaper 10w Lixada panel (4 ounces) with mixed results and lower performance than advertised. I highly recommend the Renogy 5w panel if your power needs are low while on trail.

I'm wondering if one of the panels on the item you got was defective. Or maybe the wiring broke to it due to the folding hinge design that could have caused too much stress on a wire. Have you tried covering up the panel without the USB port to see if you get the same charging results?

I bought this at $20 a few months back haven't really tried it but the reviews seem decent. It obviously isn't going to put out much juice but should be enough for a flashlight or cell recharge albeit at a snail pace. Or to juice up a battery bank if you have all day to do so.
