First off, I've received two gateway receivers from them. The first one seemed to act up a lot, and a lot of the cons are based on the first device. The second one I received seems to have significantly less problems, but YMMV. The gateway device (or 5G grey trashcan as some people call it) is pretty much a modem and a wifi router combined.
PROS:
When configured correctly, speeds can hit up to 270 mbps downloading
Configuring device is pretty simple out of the box
Price is really cheap
CONS:
Speeds fluctuate depending on time of day
If technicians are working on specific towers, my internet can be completely down until it is fixed, which could take up to a day
Changing SSID or SSID PW does not always stick and will reset to default ID and PW
Gateway gets hot sometimes and needs to be restarted for it to work properly. To mitigate the workload, I've connected my own wifi router to the gateway, and used my own router to do the wifi processing. It seems to help a lot in preventing restarts.
There are only 2 lan ports on the gateway, but you can still connect a wifi router to the lan ports and get it to work that way.
Customer service is in India, and sometimes takes a really long time to get to someone. I've had to call multiple times to get something fixed or replaced. It gets frustrating.
RECOMMENDATION:
If you have cable or fios, I recommend sticking to it as the speeds tend to be more reliable. If you're in rural areas but get good speeds with T-Mobile, then it's worth considering to switch. When I first got T-Mobile Home Internet, my area was still having problems with reliable service, and I think it was due to the towers here. However, after the gateway replacement, and probably the tower upgrades, it seems to be a lot more stable now. In the end, it's YMMV based on your towers.
I've had as fast as 400 down.

On top of that, it's IP6 only and not support VPN protocol till recently which I still heard ppl saying not working well on reddit.
If you have choices with cheap unlimited cable or fiber like most of SoCal residents, stay far far away from not cheap $50 T-Mobile. It's not for you.
I have T-mo 5G network on my phone but while the speed can be really fast, it varies a lot by location and network congestion is another big issue for me. Sometimes it wouldn't even really load anything (more like dial-up speed) in certain areas/spots, particularly with a high number of users/population and in stores/buildings.
My wife and I work from home 100% so we need a reliable connection and while I've seen the ads/promos for T-mo Home Internet multiple times, for the main reason above, I don't think it'd make sense for us.
Additionally, we're paying $30/month for 200mbps which I think is a really good deal so $50/month is almost double what we currently pay and from this standpoint too, T-mo Home Internet just doesn't make sense.
Anything else I'm missing here / not considering? Unless maybe you happen to live in an area where no other ISPs serve you but T-mo somehow does? (which I think is probably quite rare).
Thank you!
TLDR, check TMO coverage for your area. If good coverage TMO may be competitive depending on the kinds of speeds you're getting with Spectrum. As for the coverage, that would be taken care of by a mesh system.

Coverage around and outside my house is fine. Now for the bad part. I do get drops. there are no rhyme or reasons on when will i get drop. not sure if it is the wifi router or the network. i could get drop any time of the day. Second thing i notice is that when im downloading something on my comp that is hot wired from the router. everything else seems to not work or very slowly. I think the router they provide prioritize hot wire then wifi. So if you must need wifi for meetings they you might get drop. But for my needs it works well. but coverage is also ymmv
