Well in the reviews they look like decorated tubes... I remember as a kid seeing 90-100+ cost light Saber and thinking people were nuts, but on the try me out part I could see it was seriously detailed. It did the whole light up, respond to swings and bumps and make sounds thing. But ALSO, the design of it was detailed and matched the movies.. anakins was a weird two part thing, obi Wan had a ball on bottom with spikes going around..

Similar to a pvc pipe the heavy duty blades are about twice as thick as the standard purpose of the standard is to let more light through the 79 dollar ones will have an rbg some companies use similar to a Cree flashlight others use a dimmer one. As far as level of abuse around what a inch diameter solid wooden dowel can handle.
