At 1299 I think it's a reasonable deal but I'm not as blown away as I was hoping, maybe because I hate constantly rubbing the lid with a cloth! Also one of the reviews on the Costco site mentions hard-to-clean oily buildup on the keyboard which also makes me nervous! I've never really worried about or noticed this too much on other laptops to be honest - maybe I'm being more critical here because of the price?

There are other Thin & Light laptops with much better AMD 8-core/16- thread CPUs such as the Vivobook/Zenbook 13/14/15/16 OLED edition that are engineered better around this price and some even come with dedicated 3050ti graphics.
You are over paying for marginal thinness over the much better 2021 models.

This is lightweight, office/multimedia machine and doesn't require that 8core CPU or Dedicated GPU for it's use case.
I got the 15" last time around and so far so good (saved about $450 off the 17" price IIRC and most of the specs were the same). There is really very little real-world difference between 15" and 17" screens. 1.5" to be exact, but IMO it's not that noticeable.
As I mentioned above, I think the size difference between 15.6" and 17.1" is barely noticeable ("negligible" might be going too far, but I thought I would notice a difference and I don't really).

Vivobook: 3.8 lbs
Zenbook: 4.4 lbs
Battery life on Wifi (notebookcheck tests):
LG Gram: 728 minutes
Vivobook: 357 minutes
Zenbook: 743 minutes
Not even close.
Don't get me wrong, Zenbook is a very interesting device, but it's just not light.
