On sale again are Mini US - Konke smart plugs branded as Eques Elf plugs. This is the lowest price I have seen on the 4 pack.

I have personally verified compatibility with Alexa. For best results use the Smart K app and the Alexa smart home Smart K skill. These plugs need to be first configured with the app on a 2.4 GHz WIFI network. Do not use the Eques software, it is no longer supported on Alexa. The Eques software also has significant security issues as outlined in the blog posts below. The SmartK software affords you more security as I have verified the reported remote plug exploits do not work.

For the hardware hacker:
https://github.com/jedmeng/python-konkeio
https://github.com/jedmeng/homeassistant-konke
https://www.ckn.io/blog/2019/08/2...-part-one/

The plug is based on the popular ESP8266 SoC running at 160 MHz, 128KB RAM, 1MB flash, and the OS is based on FreeRTOS. These plugs feature quality construction and for safety there is an air gap cut into the pc board between the plug hot connection and the socket hot connection. Neutral is common and the ground pin passes through without physical connection to the pc board.

Looks like most of the bad reviews are from 3yrs ago, and like the OP said you have to use the newer Smart K app, which I see mentioned in newer reviews. If you're getting them for Grandma's house then, I'd stick with official Amz plugs, otherwise if you need a ton and don't mind some tweaking seems like a great way to cover a massive Christmas light display / house.

By tweaking, do you mean flashing it with Tasmota? Thanks!

I wonder, do these use Tuya? HA has official local Tuya control now, right? Mine are still running the hack, but they're just that much easier going forward.

Where do you see HA has official local Tuya? I don't think the official one has local control.

I also would like to know if this works with Tuya or Smart Life app. I don't see it mentioned anywhere .... so I guess it won't work.

I bought these last time they were available. They can work with tasmota OTA flash, but half failed last time I tried and I had to hook up the serial programmer. See https://jdanders.github.io/repos/...-plug.html

You just made my day! I was worried only ESPEasy was going to work, as im much more familiar with Tasmota.
Do you have a config for these to copy/paste into the web interface?
How hard were they to open to get to the solder points inside, any tips?

Smart plugs that have to be specially programmed to work consistently and not hack you aren't worth the couple of bucks saved over better brands.
