Thanks. Also a good deal. The Kidde one is a BC-type, so it's best to use in Garage or grill areas. The OP's extinguisher is ABC-type, so it works as more of a "general use" and will be effective against paper and wood products.

My recommendation? Get a couple of each. They are both cheap. Each are better in different ways so putting them in the locations where they are most effective is best.

Keep in mind these are still relatively small and will only give you a few seconds of spray - which you may find very surprising in the moment you need it (just saying). Also, if you or your kids/family have never used one, consider buying one extra to practice with in the backyard so everyone knows how to use it and what to expect... Personal experience: Just having one around doesn't mean people will use it when they need to either because they are afraid of it in the moment or they forget it's there entirely.
This is the point I routinely make to folks in fire extinguisher threads. In almost all cases if you can store a 2.5lb cylinder somewhere, you can store a 5 or even 10lb cylinder. Inside a car is the only place I could understand prioritizing space for cylinder size. But if you're using a fire extinguisher, odds are you're in desperate need of help and you'll be eternally grateful you spent the extra 20 bucks on a cylinder that sprays further distance and sprays a longer period of time. That 20 bucks could easily be the difference between you extinguishing the fire and losing everything.

For reference, a brand new 2.5lb cylinder sprays for about 7 seconds.
Not an expert here, but Home Depot had a similar Kidde one for less than $10

Good catch. Free shipping and they take Pay Pal for another 5% back as well if you have your Chase Freedom card set for this quarter. Thanks...repped.

The one OP posted is rated 1-A:10-B:C Rechargeable, and the home depot one is 5-B:C one time use. ACE one has twice the capacity and is suitable for wood fire, so it is much better in my opinion.

Careful, as far as I know, that one is not rated for regular fires (wood, paper, etc) with code A
It has B, C while OP has A,B,C

Edit: lmao everyone posted the same while I was typing this on mobile

I picked up this one the other day to throw in the car. The total comes to $7.99 plus tax. I have a bunch of fire extinguishers and all of them I have gotten via slickdeals lol https://www.acehardware.com/depar...rs/8035925

I bought that one as well from home Depot. Better deal. These are great to put around the house and to have several in rv/travel trailer.

Can someone explain to me like a 6-year-old the difference and which is better for general house use between this, Home Depot, and the one from Costco that I think is a 5lbs.
Just bought the one from Costco at a local store on sale prices.

Stop buying crap that will go in the landfill. This is not serviceable and has a 10 year life span. Go to your local service company and they can give you one for free from their junk pile. Or just buy a real fire extinguisher.
